I stumbled across this forum looking for a discontinued item. (I'll go ahead and post about that in the correct thread) I don't personally own a fountain pen as of yet, but that's part of why I'm here :)

On to introducing who I am: I'm a music graduate student who (not) ironically both plays trumpet and delivers pizzas.

You do what you must to pay those tuition costs, John. Welcome aboard!

Boy, you are fresh grist :P for the FPN mill, not having a FP yet. You'll get a lot of good and well reasoned suggestions here. I had bought a couple before I stumbled in here. Had I come here, first, my initial purchases would have been different.

So, enjoy and I'd like hot Italian sausage and heavy on the anchovies, please!

The smell of "fresh meat" brought me to this post, I think :P . No FPs yet, huh? That was me at the end of March. Not going to say how many I have now. In all seriousness, if we can help you find whatever you're looking for, let us know. Welcome aboard!

Hi,

I got here with one pen, a Parker Reflex, and with one bottle of ink, Parker Quink Black. Now I have a few more pens and about thirty bottles of ink.

Stolen: Aurora Optima Demonstrator Red ends Medium nib. Serial number 1216 and Aurora 98 Cartridge/Converter Black bark finish (Archivi Storici) with gold cap. Reward if found. Please contact me if you have seen these pens.

Please send vial orders and other messages to fpninkvials funny-round-mark-thing gmail strange-mark-thing com. My shop is open once again if you need help with your pen.

Will someone with the name of "Jay" who emailed me through the email system provide me an email address? There was no email address provided, so I can't write back.

Hi John,

O boy O boy O boy ! you have no clue what you have just done ! Let's come back to that exact thread in six months from now, and see how many you have

Isn't pizza delivery mandatory to graduate anyway ? :D

Welcome to FPN, and enjoy the forums.

Denis... who was cleaning offset printing machines in his college years... that ink paste was darn hard to get off the skin.

Hi John! Like Southpaw, I came in at the end of March, although I at least had two FPs in my possession at the time. I keep telling my husband that I don't know where all these dang pens keep coming from... they just multiply or something. Just add water (or ink!). Have fun making your first choice -

I'm at the university of akron, so I know a few folks from there but not many.

As for the "item" I'm looking for, it's a fine oblique nib with pointed (not rounded) sides that provides a lot of ink flow. So, a real music nib that can notate music, in other words.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
