"I’ve written before about the designs of Jean Pierre Lepine. This pen, the Cybergraph received awards for its sleek styling when it came out in 2000. The pen comes in carbon fiber, palladium and briarwood styles (the carbon fiber and briarwood are each $1625, the palladium can be purchased for $900). The pens come with an external ink pump because Jean Pierre Lepine didn’t want the user to have to dip the pen in ink."

I liiiiiike.

I'm going to have to go on ahead and say it - use that word that I can't stand seeing, because it's so overused (especially in the automotive industry) - the lepine has a decidedly...innovative...design.

There, I've said it! Didn't hurt that much.

Question: Why doesn't the green one have "Cybergraph" on it like the other two.

Speaking of "Cybergraph", they couldn't have chosen a more sensible name? Ah well.

I wonder how the pen "holds" in the hand.

Guess I'll have to follow the link and see what it says...

t!

edit: What's that black-tar-slug thing in the picture?

normally a pen like this would just earn my derision.

but yeah, as T says, I like. well, she was more emphatic but...

That ink pump thing looks silly - but also a cool way to fill if it indeed it works well.

Lepine makes some decent pens actually - all of them rather "artsy", but fun. Met a guy who buys a different Lepine pen for his mother every BD/Christmas/Mother's Day. She must be amassing quite a collection.

and... i don't know why but I like that bizarre Graphyscaf also

It's so Jules Verne. :-)

The Cybergraph is a visually appealing pen, but it really could've used a more imaginative nib design. Makes it look like the writing function was just an anachronistic afterthought. And Cybergraph? That's like totally last century! :-) It is pretty nifty despite those two niggles, though.

And I didn't have the heart to tell her why.

it's more Jules Verne than the Jules Verne (MB?), IMO!

i think we may be in the minority on this one though. i can't even say really why I like these things because I generally dislike anything remotely LE-like or overly-detailed.

Exactly what I was thinking as I typed that. The MB Verne is neat in its own way (I've a weakness for enamelled guilloche), but just doesn't capture that steampunk Nautilus feel.

I hate the limited nature of LEs, at least until I can finally get one for myself, but I do like ornate in the right way. Hmm, I think this calls for some hot, sexy pen-ups:

Hey look, they even have a model for Rob Halford:

I love the cryonic nibs. Doesn't the barrel get too cold to handle?

Is this thing available in the states? i can't find it anywhere :(

Www.papierplume.com in New Orleans, Louisiana claims to have the full line, according to their October blog. They only tend to show their dip pens online, though, but I remember seeing Lepines in the shop when I was last there three years ago. I've had two Indigos, lovely writers once they are adjusted (one came right in box, the other was too tight to flow well).

I would buy a Graphyscaf if I had the money to spare after paying off everything and sending my sisters' kids to college, but that is not likely to happen unless I win the lottery.

If someone has the dough, go for it. :)

The only way you can have the Cybergraph new is by getting one that is NOS. You can still find them and they will put you down around 1600 dollars. Considering that some limited editions like the samurai monstrosity by Montegrappa will set you back 15k.........the Cybergraph is really a bargain.
As a collector I can say that the Cybergraph is the only pen that if you buy one now it will hold the value and eventually increase, as its one of the very few pens that are sold from time to time in luxury auctions, outside the hobby market of course......specially in Europe, and I'm not talking about ebay auctions !
To me is one of the best pen designs that I have ever seen. I wanted to say that, as Lépine pens are not very much discussed here in general, so I see this post with great surprise. Its not an EDC, its not practical, its just beautiful and that's why its a great object, pen, who knows. Lépine pens are really underrated.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
