Strange MB

Hi all

I have found a strange MB pen:

- it is black;

- its plastic, or looks the part;

- the body has an inscription "Mont (engraving of a mount) Blanc";

- is a button filler;

- the cap has one ring;

- the clip is similar to the first 234 1/2;

- the metal ware is white/plated, not golden.

Can anyone give a hint of what it is ?

Hi penaddict

good try, but:

in my pen there is no star on top of the cap, the clip is different, the cap has no inscription, the inscription is in the barrel (no simplo mention, only montblanc).

The Olympus FE110 has a regular focal length of 38 - 106 cm.

When set to Macro, the focal length is 20 - 50 cm or 7.9 - 19.7 inches.

So hold the camera farther back when taking your shot. Also, what are the imprints on the blind cap and nib?

hi jeff

thanks for the tip for the photos :thumbup:

The blind cap has no inscription.

Unfortunatly the nib is not original MB, but some cheap spare. As a matter of fact I think the feed is not correct too: I gather somebody changed nib and feed somewhere along the way.

I wonder what model pen is this.

Hi again

I did some more photos, not so good neither but... :embarrassed_smile:

Can anyone help identify this pen ?

The nib and feed are, of course, not the correct ones for a MB pen.

Thanks, :thumbup:

If this is not a counterfeit, it could be a 128 that is repaired in an incorrect way. The barrel and cap design are from the '30's. It's not uncommon that these pen's are not fitted with the original nibs and/or clips. The original nibs and clips (made from gold) were during World War II used for paying for the necessities of life.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
