Where will you be September 28-29?

I am coming from Austin- but not sure where to stay yet- I'd like to be a bit closer to the center- and I am bringing my dog so a pet friendly hotel is a must.

Did you look at the incorrect map that shows the Richardson City Hall? Click on the link at the top of the Show page (the one that just says MAP, right above the nighttime Dallas skyline shot) for the correct location. The show is in a hotel - for all I know they are "pet friendly" but you could call and ask. I believe that usually small dogs are not a problem. It's the big ones like mine that make hoteliers nervous.

Thanks Bill. It looks like I will only be able to make it to the Friday show now- so my dog won't be with me now- but I appreciate the information.

This is my first show- what can I expect on Friday?

Thanks

Elizabeth

I plan on being at the Show this weekend since it's only a 3 hour drive for me. I've never attended a show and don't know what to expect, but I'm guessing I won't return home empty-handed!

Friday the show hours are 1 pm to 8 pm. This should be good for you if you are thinking about buying a pen -- by Saturday morning, some of the really good ones will be gone. The ballroom and the area outside it, into the lobby, will be full. Inside the ballroom, it can get crowded, especially on Saturday morning but I expect there will be a good crowd Friday night after everyone gets off work.

I'm not a member of the Dallas Pen Club, so I don't have any additional information. Maybe Robert Aia can fill in the gaps I've left. I will be there on Friday "covering" the show for the members here. Not sure what hours yet -- I'd like to be on my way home by 4 pm to stay out of the traffic.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
