My camera is on the blink right now but pages 1 and 2 of this thread show scans already that Thierry was kind enough to supply. Hope that helps.

Mine arrived today! Now, which pen should I use it in??? Decisions, decisions, decisions.

What did you finally settle on and do you love it or do you LOVE it?! Can't wait til mine arrives - looking forward to your opinions SP :)

I finally put it in a Nebula CS100 with a fine nib. It's great stuff! Love the color (purple, yet still professional), the intensity, the lubricity. Drying time could be a little quicker, but not a problem for this lefty underwriter. In short, it's a great ink.

I can verify the noir part now because I spilled some on a white cotton shirt.

The color appears to be a mixture of intense purplish magenta, and black (noir).

The magenta part comes off when you use Amodex on it, but even after laundering,

there remains a grey stain that hasn't come out. That must have bonded to the

fabric.

My predictions for water testing would be that a black or grey trace of the writing

might remain on the paper, but the magenta part would dissolve away. Have not

tried this. It took enough time to do the Amodex treatment that took out the magenta

part.

Wow. Sorry, can't help myself. MB Violet in a Bexley Americana silver with a stub nib. Life doesn't get much sweeter than that (mine, anyway). Can't put it down. Sigh.

Wow! Sorry that you had to make such a sacrifice, but I appreciate the extended analysis of the ink and your support of my noir comment. And thanks for helping out with my Pelikan ink question in another post.

I just noticed that the MontBlanc on-line refill store now offers the Violet ink cartridges (Ident. No. 102718). $3 for a pack of 6 (not including shipping).

I have never seen mb cartridges. Are they short internationals? j

Kind of. They will fit into pens for international carts, as they have the same external shape and dimensions - except the front third of the cart, which has a tiny step inwards to make the front part a bit narrower. Thus some MB cart pens may not accept standard international carts, as their front third may be too wide to fit.

For comparison reasons, I have a scan here of Lamy Violet ink:

Meanwhile, does anyone know a website (in the EU) where I can order a bottle of this promising MB Violet???

Keep writing.

Keep doing it and doing it.

Even in the moments when it's so hurtful to think about writing.

Sure: the usual suspect, Rolf Thiel at www.missing-pen.de does sell it and many other rarities.

I bought a bottle of MB Violet because of this thread. It is delicious.

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
