My bottles arrived today, and the violet is simply gorgeous.

My new favorite ink! :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01:

edit to add: it does resemble aubergine (eggplant).

Just ordered 2 boxes of violet cartridges from the MB boutique in London UK. Not sure where the MB boutiques are in the USA but you could just give the stores a call.

I was in an MB Boutique in San Jose, CA last week and they still don't have the cartridges yet. The bottles are available though.

Wow. I am seriously craving both grape Kool-aid (when you look at the bottle) and eggplant. This ink is beautiful. It is (I can't believe I am saying this because I generally dislike purple) a sophisticated colour. An adult purple. A serious purple. A purple that I can't see myself getting tired of. A purple worthy of being in the daily user pen, not the pen I use to draw little flowers on the envelopes.

I like it. It is now in my top 3: R&K Verdigris, PR Fiesta Red and this. I think I have been searching for inks that are not distracting, but are not boring. This kicks tail.

Glad you like! :bunny01:

Yes, it is unusual yet it is not outlandish and easy on the eyes.

Like you, I felt I would be able to use it regularly and not tire of it, and not

feel self concious about using an "off " colour.

I felt the similarly about MB Bordeaux.

LDF I am seriously thinking of getting some MB Bordeaux. Their ink is so much better than I remember it being (Okay, it was 20 years ago when I bought most of my MB ink) but this one and the racing green are seriously impressing me.

Hi, where abouts is that boutique in San Jose? I'm hankering for a bottle of this violet ink something fierce! Thanks in advance :)

Yes, MB Bordeaux is another distinctive but not distracting colour.

If you like the MB violet, I think you will "get" the Bordeaux.

Well, Swishers has some in stock and I ordered a bottle today, along with a bottle or three more.

I ordered one last night from the MB boutique in Washington (the CA stores were out of the bottles). Good to know (terrible for the bank account though!) that Swisher has it now in stock. I know that you also share the same 'purple madness' that I do...it's tough but someone has to do it :roflmho: :crybaby: :cloud9:

I could only find the MB violet (bottled) online at penboutique.com, so I gave it a shot. Ordered on Thurs. the 4th and it was on my door step from FedEx on Mon. the 8th. Fast delivery and very well packaged for safety. The violet is dark (but distinctly purple) and very smooth. Some folks have mentioned the bordeaux ink and the racing green. Both have an elegant deep color to them, and I generally do not like green. Perhaps I'm crazy, but the MB inks give me a film noir feel to them. They edge on the side of darkness or dustiness in a sophisticated way. I'm no specialist on inks; this is simply how they strike me.

Yes, the racing green has a noir quality, but one of my fellow snailers and I both agree that there's an olive drab undertone that isn't

quite "British Racing green", which I think is more like forest. In my B Lamy Safari, I think the MB racing green is sort of like

"Dr Zhivago joins the Army".

Woo-hoo! All three arrived today from Swisherpens. :D I was just going to get the Violet, but the Racing Green and Bordeaux were just too beautiful to pass up.

Now it has arrived at my major local store and I bought it.

MB Violett can be very well described as a dark and more saturated version of Noodler's Purple Martin.

It's gorgeous. I'm using it in a Prelude with a cursive italic (0.7) and it's wonderfully smooth and the color rules! That is has some definite waterproofing capabilities is almost too dreamy.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
