Hello from "the old continent",
Have a look at the new Montblanc violett ink, lately arrived in MB boutiques eather in bottle and cartridges.
It's deeper and darker than Omas' or Waterman's violett, and seems to have a pretty good flow, even with F nibs.
Some tests need to be done (resistance to water, sun...), but it already looks great! thumbup.gif

YES, YES!!! Must see sample! MB website doesn't have it. Swisher's site doesn't have it yet. It is a moral imperative that you post samples ASAP!!! rolleyes.gif

Hello,
Seeing your last posts, I couldn't keep you waiting any more puddle.gif , so I homemade a sample by myself: see attached file (I hope it works!!)
The result shown is less convincing than the original; the color is deep, dark, and does not fade during the lines.
Water test is in session.
Technical conditions of the test were: MB Edgar Poe, F nib, MB violett ink (bottle), pdf file, 400 dpi color
No doubt it will be on MB's site soon...
Kind regards
Thierry happyberet.gif

Thank's for sharing!

Is it my monitor setting or does MB Violet have some nice aubergine tones?

Looks great which means I need to visit a pen store soon to get me a bottle as well :-)

Cheers

Michael

Thanks for the news and the scan, Thierry. It looks like a great colour.

Michael -- Yes, I can see some very nice aubergine tones on my monitor as well.

Very nice. Not intensely reddish, and a very nice dark line from the
fine nib. thumbup.gif

That looks beautiful - I'm hoping it is a fractionally more economical variant of Caran d'Ache Storm, which is my current top ink.

I'm very fond of Montblanc inks. What they lack in flashiness they more than make up for in subtlety, shading and style. As at Caran d'Ache, you can tell that there are people in the ink division who take a lot of trouble.

Hello,
In fact, your descriptions (several of you talked about an "aubergine" tone) are really accurate.
It is exactly the way I should have qualified this new ink!
As the path is more important than the goal, don't fear to wait foir this ink to come to the USA. Your pleasure will be bigger... wink.gif
My water test as been thrown away by my wife (no comment!), so a new one is on its way; I'll post it as as soon as possible, but I can tell you that if the color itself disapperas under running water, a clear trace remains (contrarily to MB's black or blue), so that the text can still be read.
It was my pleasure sharing with you these little informations

My thoughts exactly. I am a fan of their burgundy/bordeaux. This new violet looks very nice, too, and I can't wait for it to be available locally. Thank you for showing the sample.

I like saturated inks, but there are some ink colors that I prefer to be less vibrant and more subtle.

Hey, Frenchmen, you're lucky. wink.gif

MB violet is either country specific for you or you're a test market.

Been at each of the three local MB dealers, haven't seen it and today at the last one I asked about the new MB violet ink. The sales Lady was irritated when I told about its availability in France, as she haven't heard about it and at the last Paperworld fair in Frankfurt in January there was no word about it from MB. So she immediately phoned MB Germany and was told that this ink is not [yet?] distributed here. mellow.gif

Maybe MB violet is distributed elsewhere, too, but don't expect too much. unsure.gif

Hello,
I finally managed to realize my MB violet ink test ; you will find it attached.
I also tried the same color, but with a cartridge fill foutain pen ; the color is not as deep as in bottle, and looks more like a traditional violet.
Kind regards to all of you,

Thierry, very helpful, particularly your on-screen notes as part of the PDF.

It seems that MB has taken a giant leap forward with their recent inks. Does anyone here know whether the manufacturer has changed, or whether MB itself makes their inks?
