Birmingham Co Ink?

I used to be that way until I moved to the actual East Coast. Apparently there is a lot of stuff between the Rockies and New York. Who knew?

Yeah, and "upstate New York" does NOT begin at the Bronx/Westchester county line. (My husband and I argue about where it does start -- I say "above Poughkeepsie" and he says "Oh, no -- it doesn't start till you're north of Albany!"

I moved from Virginia to Colorado almost 25 years ago and am still amused by the fact that people here call Chicago "back east".

That, and the young man (high school age) who was baffled by the fact that I said "Y'all" and was from Virginia, because, as he explained to me, "Virginia's not in the south!" This caused me to wonder about the state of education in Colorado (if you define "south" as "states that are south of the Mason-Dixon line", Virginia is definitely in the south).

Heck, most of West Virginia is below the Mason-Dixon Line. Which may explain why people at my church growing up thought my mother had a "southern" accent. She hadn't lived in West Virginia for over 3 decades at that point: Pittsburgh and Philly in the mid-late 1940s, and southeastern New York State for at least 25 years at that point....

Looking forward to some reviews of the new inks! Even if minimal reviews.

Upstate New York begins at 96th Street. You and your husband are both wrong.

Where I grew up in WV is actually just a bit north of Pittsburgh and I live due west now. There's a huge dichotomy in WV which is pretty interesting. I don't have an accent at all and yet people think my mom does even though she's lived in/around the northern panhandle for 40 years. I don't hear it, but I did grow up with her.

Hi all,

Unfortunately, there was a lot of feathering and bleeding. The paper was a Tops Legal Pad. This is an ink you might only be able to use on premium grade papers.

The pen was a Parker 95 with a medium nib.

I haven't tried the other two colors yet.

We live in Washington Heights and call it "Upstate Manhattan".

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
