Very nice indeed! Many congratulations.

What a beautiful nib. Looks a perfect width and grind, for my needs.

(Are all of the Fritz Schmpf Expressive nibs this size, or is there a choice of width?)

Thanks for sharing. Great post!

Lovely pen/nib combo but the price is prohibitive for my pen budget.

Thank you, Tom, for such a vivid and meaningful description of your new fountain pen. What a dramatic piece of technology and beauty. Congratulations, sir. As always, your photographs and enthusiasm for the writing culture are a treat for all of us. Thank you once again, sir. All the best, Barry

What a wonderful nib. I'm going to get one if they ever answer my email of how to ship to California.

Fritz Schimpf is an amazing stationery shop. They are reliable, knowledgeable and INNOVATIVE, as this project shows. Furthermore, the staff are a joy to talk with.

Ghost Plane, where are you?

That's my question, too! Although, I think she likes nibs even broader than the FS 149!

Haven't seen her on the forum, for a while. Hoping all is well?

I just received mine in the mail today. It's got terrible, terrible baby's bottom. I am really disappointed.

Seems rather surprising given each nib was hand done and then writing tested. Definitely reach out to FS with your issues. I am sure they will make it right.

The Expressive 149 has arrived today. The nib is even broader than gold leaf's and easier to flex. Cannot wait to flex now.  :)

I have, and they have responded very well. It is surprising, as you say, and no doubt a lone sparrow. I have no reservations or reprimands with regard to Fritz Schimpf. The pen is going back this week, and no doubt will return in wonderful shape.

Glad to hear it. Yes, I'm sure it will return in perfect shape.

Disapponting to hear that a nib, which is verging on bespoke, could arrive to you in such condition!

Good luck.

Thank you max dog.

As a MB flex enthusiast of owning three 149 flex and gold leaf , I am happy to add this unexpected italic flex to my calligraphy pen collection. Because of the broad italic nib, it flexes even more effortlessly and smoothly. However you need to keep the tines parallel when putting pressure on. Compared to the original flex, the italic flex writes more like a Chinese writing brush, which I prefer.  Except the nib creep (and the price) , I am satisfied with the stunning italic expressive nib.

I get where you are going with this comment and would not disagree with you for regular production nibs from MB.

My surprise came from the fact the seller had tested each nib personally. Not just the quick listening test MB does with their nib as quality control.

Given they stamped the store name on the nibs I know the seller put way more effort into these nibs than just a marketing partnership (cough Kingsman 149s cough cough) so I was surprised much more than if some told me they bough a stock 149 and it had nib issues.

I'm not saying it is impossible there is an issue, as the best of intentions does not guarantee perfection, just that the first reported feedback outside Tom was an issue I would not expect.

I do hope it works out. Mine also arrived yesterday but I am waiting until my birthday to open the pen.
