Estie Maraschino!

A maraschino cherry signifies the final topping on a classic (ice cream) sundae. But now maraschino means something else--the latest Esterbrook Estie fountain pen finish! Appropriately named, the glistening, marbled acrylic is a cherry red color. The Estie has been an extremely popular model since its original release, and there are a variety of colors from which to choose, all retaining the same, enjoyable features and benefits. No doubt that Richard Esterbrook, Company Founder of the original, vintage Esterbrook, would be pleased with the creative design and meticulous production standards of the modern Esterbrook--its fit and finish, i.e., overall quality, is outstanding. Respected Distributor and Manufacturer, Kenro Industries, gets the credit--they acquired the brand just 2 years ago. Following are some of the noteworthy characteristics of the Estie: Its comfortable and well-balanced in the hand. Nib grade options are extra fine, fine, medium, broad, and 1.1 stub. And that's not all. The exclusive Journaler (steel) nib is the impressive result of a collaboration between Kenro and Nibmeister, Gena Salorino. This specialty nib behaves similar to a smooth, medium, stub nib. It's firm with some line variation and with wide vertical strokes, and offered in gold or palladium. The Esterbrook Journaler nib can be described as a practical daily writer that adds elegance to our writing style. It's available, the additional cost is $50. All nibs are 6mm-size, and precisely made in Germany by the acclaimed, JoWo. JoWo nibs are appreciated for their reliability--consistently smooth, with unobstructed-ink-flow feeders. Here comes another bonus--both a MV (modern-to-vintage) nib adaptor as well as an Esterbrook vintage nib can be ordered, although not included in the pen price. The polished, palladium clip supports convenient pocket placement--the pen slides easily into a shirt pocket. The Cushion Cap Closure ensures that ink flows without hesitation even after the Estie has been unused. The threading is flawless--it does not bind, catch, or hang-up. The number of turns for cap removal and replacement is ideal. Estie's filling system is via cartridge or converter, both are included. Silver or gold trim can be selected, along with a choice of standard size or oversize. The Collection includes a Rollerball. General Specs: Weight: 24g. Dimensions: 5.9" closed, 5" open, 6.7" posted. It is anticipated that this attractively-priced writing instrument will sellout quickly as it is a limited, seasonal release. To summarize my opinion of this new Estie Maraschino...I like how it writes, I like how it feels, and I like how it looks. We can be grateful to the Team at Kenro Industries and their Esterbrook Brand!

Out of the two options, the gold looks best to my eyes. Congratulations on your new pen.

Thanks a lot - I'm really looking forward to getting it. I love my Blueberry Estie... and when I saw this one, well,... what else could I do? :D

Just received mine today! Drawn to the vibrant color red of its body. It does not disappoint in the way it performs either. I have become a fan of JOWO nibs. It is fitted with an extra-fine, my preference. It rolls across the page. I opted for the OS version as I enjoy big pens. Definitely making my other pens in the collection jealous already. Filled it with Taccia red. An exclusive lover of red inks, anticipate this being the cherry of my collection for a while.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
