5Cm (50Mm) Cartridges From China Fit In What, Please?

Recommended Posts

I ordered some inexpensive Chinese bottled inks and decided to get some a pack of 12 multi-color cartridges. They were unlabeled on the site I ordered from.

What I was sent is a blister pack labelled Aihao INK-014. I've attached a picture I found on the web. I have one Chinese pen in my collection and it takes the standard 38mm cartridges.

What pens will these fit in please?

Regards,

Brian

Probably a Aihao Chiren Yiren Fountain Pen. I used the internet search engine thingy. Give it a try. It might work for you too. :)

Add lightness and simplicate.

OK - I'll match your sarcasm and raise you: What an awesomely helpful response! Thank you so very much! ;)

Seriously, though - I did do a search as well as go to Aihao's website (both before I came here to ask ...) and was unable to find anything very useful.

Tough call, since I can't see the shape of the cart's business end through the packaging. If it's not a standard International, would it possibly fit a Hero or Zebra?

Here you go (sorry the focus isn't great). I believe the hole diameter is 5mm and the rest of the cartridge is 7mm.

That does look as if it might fit either the Zebra V301 or the 'HeroFari.'

I can't recall the model number for the Hero, and don't know whether those models are still sold, but they came with a blue-black cart of a similar business end shape. Such carts will also fit some, but not all, Parkers. They fit the Reflex.

I suggest mentioning that when next you seek help, so as to not waste others time.

I'm very sorry to have wasted your time. Please feel free to ignore me in the future.

I didn't consider it a waste of my time. If I can help, I do.

It is Hero standard cartridge, the only one that I know of that's user-refillable and user-resealable.

No, I am not going to list my pens here.

The video wouldn't play for me, but...is the suggestion to pull out the plug on the fat end of the cart?

I wouldn't have thought of that! Cool. I do refill mine, but with a plastic pipette and/or one of those craft syringes.

Sailor Kenshin,

When the cartridge is fitted to the section, the plug pushes the bead that seals the socket into the inside of the cartridge. After the ink is exhausted, a suitable stick can be pushed into the cartridge at the socket end to push out the plug, extract the bead, and get the bead pushed back in place from the inside. The empty cartridge can thus be refilled, and the plug replaced to seal it back to factory form.

Sailor Kenshin,

Glad to be of some help, now you can go nuts putting all kinds of inks into the empties!

Great information - thanks!

Sorry, I don't know much about Hero (or any Chinese pen manufacturer) nor about non 'standard' sized cartridges (even then I don't know much). However I do have a Hero 616 that I have neglected (it needed some nib work, then I forgot about it) but I'd rather not mess up one of these cartridges to see if it would fit. Do you know if it should fit? If not do you have a suggestion for a cheap model it does fit?

Interesting. I'm guessing that, while writing, the bead floats up towards the end of the cartridge opposite the nib?

brian_minsk,

The Hero 616 uses a fixed filling system so it's not compatible. However, those pens using C/C by Hero, Wing Sung (both Victo and WSE), Jinhao, Lanbitou, and others, use the Hero standard C/C.

Like most cartridges the bead does not float, in fact it does not do very much for being too small. Platinum cartridges, I understand, have a rather large steel bead and it might go some way to function as an ink agitator to break up the surface tension of the ink inside the cartridge, thus preventing it to cling to it rather than flowing into the feed.

OK, then - I'm off to find another pen ...

I didn't even know cartridges have a bead - which shows how much I know about cartridges. :)

Thanks again.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
