Montblanc Boutique Glimpse

~ Visiting a Montblanc Boutique isn't always possible, due to various distance and location factors.

The full range of services and products on offer makes a Boutique visit a pleasing experience.

As a handcrafted Villeret Chronometer has been on display in the MixC Montblanc Boutique, in Shenzhen, southern China, after work a visit was arranged to admire the timepiece.

While there, gracious permission was offered to photograph the interior, as no other clients were present.

The backlit colors displayed at the Ink Bar are a cheerful reminder of the wide range of Montblanc inks available.

The leatherwork from Montblanc's Florence, Italy studios, is especially impressive.

Below is a selection of images from the visit, which may be of interest to others.

Beautiful report on and photos of the Montblanc boutique. Thank you! Its great they let you take photos. I would spend money in there because you can see everything. The local boutique here has all the ink bottles hidden away and its impossible to properly choose one. They dont have too many pens or writing accessories on view either.

Tom, you wouldnt happen to know what colour the second ink bottle from the right holds, would you? I think I need that one!

Happiness is a real Montblanc...

With shops as lavish a that, it's no wonder modern MB pens are so costly! The overhead to staff, outfit and maintain those palaces must be quite high and I suppose costs must be passed along to consumers (even those who simply want a fountain pen). Nonetheless, very nice photos and interesting report.

Lovely report, Tom. I enjoyed seeing the selection of watch straps! My local MB Boutique is considerably smaller but a nice selection of watches, pens, and leather goods with impeccable service also greet one.

Sigh, 70% of Swiss watches are sold to China, including this Mono pusher -- 100 limited pieces were sold out at time it was announced.

50k USD, I guess.

Thanks for the report, Tom. Your comments are always appreciated!

It looks like the Shenzhen boutique does a nice job of representing the brand.

Thank you Tom for this nice photo-reportage. I would love to have a store like this around here. The stores in Brussels are really small and with not lot of products available and exposed. At Paris the store of Champs-Élysées is not really small but not really big too and last time I went, there were no ink bar and all this kind of products exposed.

Wonderful chronograph that is ;)

Axis...

I'm curious...how long have you had the watch and how has it stood up to daily use compared to other watches.

Regards,

David

I purchased it 5 years ago and it has been flawless since then. Daily use is no problem - the size is fine with my wrist and it gains only 2 seconds per day. Very beautiful with formal as well informal dress code. Tbh I have purchased already 5 watches from that specific collection - this was the first one and pushed my desire for fine chronographs and calibers from Montblanc-Minerva.

This is amazing, thanks for sharing! I so want an ink bar all my own. And what would I give for that large wood slab with 4 MB pen tulips in a row. Wants it!

Thank you, Tom! Your photography and recap are excellent.

It's probably a good thing that I had to cancel my trip to Shenzhen this year. Had I found this boutique, I would have spent far more that I could afford.

Good morning, Tom. Greetings from the garden. This is as far as my leash allows me to wander. Thank you for a wonderful visual trip to a Montblanc boutique. Haven't entered one in over 6 months & needed such a treat. Thanks, sir. Stay well, Tom. Best wishes, Barry

Thank you Tom for the great pictures which allow us to visit the boutique with you.

I'd wish we'd have such large boutiques here. I'm looking forward to visit one again in the future!

Cheers and stay safe

Michael

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
