However, Alma Mater (or Saecularia Nona) is longer, at 14.3 cm, with gold trims, and the "tie" clip.

I can not distinguish it well, but the color of the pen is dark blue?

On my laptop it looked black with silver trim but on the tablet i can see the dark blue much more clearly. Looks like a nice pen

Alma Mater Studiorum has also a large inprint on the body.

At the beginning of the '90s, Omas created a quite exclusive "Club della Stilografica Armando Simoni", which was culturally sponsored by the University of Bologna. The first pen created for Clubs’ members was a faceted pen the size of a Milord, in red resin, with three rings on the cap. A piston filler, the pen was designed on the historical model of the Omas Extra and it was, as to aesthetics, very similar to the pen you have.

I think that in subsequent years, other colors were produced for the Collectors' Club, but always in the Milord size, but I am not sure that there was a blue also.

The first pens of the "Club della Stilografica Armando Simoni" had an individual number engraved on the barrel, probably the number of individual membership of the members.

Thanks for the info, that means perhaps this was a prototype for the members

good catch, I think this is it, with the silver trim, and the three rings, so a 556F possibly made for Japan (not a prototype), but some of them came back through Chatterley.

The pen you mention is in fact 13,5 cm of length, capped.

It has the round imprint of the Club in the cap just below the clip, and also an imprint "Omas Extra" in cursive in the body.

As you said each pen has the number of the membership: mine is the 13th.

Thank you for the great information. Would you mind, whenever you have a chance, posting a photo of your no. 13?

Also, do you know if other pens in the same model, but with different colors, where ever produced for the Club members?

If anyone has a complete (or even nearly complete) list of which pens were included in the "Club della Stilografica Armando Simoni" series over the years, it would be wonderful if you would post it for us.

It would be a great resource for this site and all Omas collectors.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
