Leaking Penbbs 268

Anyone has experienced this? Fresh out of the box, filled with Iroshizuku Tsutsuji.

I think it's coming from a crack in the pen. When capped the pen constantly leaks ink into the cap and nothing I can do can stop it.

that certainly look like a crack on the section and it might be the issue .. the photo is not high rez enough nor clearly defined enough to judge but if its indeed a crack then that's a goner, the 268 is the economy model with the injection parts unibody so one cannot do anything. Looks like someone been too positive and assertive with fitting the nib ...

If its a new pen, get a refund / exchange , if its your own , well try repairing it by sealing the crack using thin plastic cement ( goto a hobby store and ask for the Tamiya Extra Thin Cement ( the kind with the green cap ), it work wonders ; I even got some expensive Italian pen that fail on me, well, back to a single piece again

Yikes, I got this off Beini on Etsy, and you're right, I put some medical tape over the pen to see where the leak could be and looks like a cracked section. :(

Pen came assembled, I'll try the Tamiya cement, my local hobby store needs the support now. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for your advice, Beini is sending a new section I think. Will update when it gets here. It can't hurt to try the repair in the meantime. Appreciate it.

just made sure you do the repair with the nib and feed OFF the pen

  • 2 weeks later...

Following up to commend the excellent customer service by Beini on Etsy, she sent me a new section to replace the cracked one. And I followed this video to replace the section and put back the nib and feed. Thank goodness for soft cotton/rubber pads.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
