Hey all, I'm wondering about your experiences with this retailer

Thanks!

“Many boys will bring you flowers. But someday you'll meet a boy who will learn your favorite flower, your favorite song, your favorite sweet. And even if he is too poor to give you any of them, it won't matter because he will have taken the time to know you as no one else does. Only that boy earns your heart."

I've purchased from them in the past, and had good service each time.

Me too.

You should know that there is a sort of rule on this board against complaints about any specific commercial seller, i.e. naming and shaming (reasons lead to debates lead to heads banging, so just accept that it's there). Therefore you are unlikely to get any very specific negative reactions about this very well known U.S. retailer, and so the results of your inquiry are likely to be strongly skewed towards the positive. That said, I stand by my reaction, all interactions and transactions for me have been positive.

I've had several positive experiences with them, including a return.

As for negative views....as they old saying goes, "Praise in public, scold in private."

So, I've used private message if I want to share info that I don't think wise to put out to everyone.

Please note it's very easy to dump on someone online and tarnish their reputation. It's not easy to erase to undo it, once it's out there.

It's also easy to create an impression about someone based on very anecdotal info and very small data sets. Especially, if a few people pile on too, which I see happen too often. So, someone that may have a 99% positive record, get's tarnished over a few people with a negative experience. Not saying the 1% doesn't matter, just that it's a very skewed view of real situation.

Hence, my trying to adhere to old saying above......think it's all about how you handle the info......I share my experiences good and bad, if I think it's appropriate, just in different ways.

Anyway, just my 2¢.....

I ordered my Edison Menlo from them about 2 weeks ago. I didn't have any issues with them. They shipped promptly with tracking and everything was well packaged. I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again.

The issues I has was with USPS and my pen getting hung up at one of their facilities for several days, but that's not Goldspot's fault and a topic for a different discussion.

Yes,, Goldspot is a good dealer. I have bought from them several times and their packing and shipping practices are done with care. I would definitely buy from them again. It pays to sign up for their newsletters, too. ^_^

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
