Recommended Posts

Sometime in August, there will be new inks available from Octopus Fluids - most probably as 30ml and 250ml bottles.

Please check your typical sources for Octopus inks. I will update this thread when I know the exact date.

Thanks!

I have and enjoy Schwars. Burgunder and Lindgrün are on the August list.

Add lightness and simplicate.

Isn't that typical for pastel-colored inks?

I’m still waiting for these inks to be available in USA without high international shipping prices. All I want is a small bottle of Schwarz.

Request it to whatever ink shops there are, Penchalet, Vanesse, Goulet, ...

I feel like I’ve done it once a while ago. You’re right, I should try again.

  • 1 month later...

Just got message from Octopus Fluids.

Many of their inks are available now at Amazon DE for worldwide shipping.

The pastel ones are here:

https://www.amazon.de/s?k=F%C3%BCllhaltertinte+Pastell&me=A175BGR3T47P8E

For other colors, start at the link above - that leads to the Octopus store at Amazon DE and change the search field.

A color chart of all their inks is here: http://mkepens.blogspot.com/2019/05/more-inks-from-germany.html

For your search, I type the German words - just copy and paste.

Schwarz, Blau loeschbar, Ultramarinblau, Karibik, Flieder, Purpur, Orchidee, Rot, Brilliantrot, Burgunder, Karamell, Pinie, Bronze, Sepia schwarz, Tiefgruen, Moosgruen, Lindgruen, Fruehlingsgruen, Orange, Mango

Poppy pods, Crystal Blue, Blue Iris, Cherry Blossom, Living Coral, Pepple Stone

I got new color cards from them.

Most of those inks are too pale for me. The Blue Iris also reminds me of J Herbin (scented) Lavender. Which is a LOT easier to get if you like that sort of thing (as it turned out I didn't -- the "lavender" scent reminds me of some hand sanitizer I bought by mistake so I'm dubious about the claim that it's a natural scent in the ink...; ironically, the Herbin rose scented ink is quite lovely).

Crystal Blue looks great to me. Blue Iris too (though I already have an ink like it). Again wishing for a USA vendor to carry Octopus inks.

Click on the link and you will see that there are two lines; 6 pastel, and 20 saturated inks.

I'm currently enjoying Schwarz, which is actually a very dark blue black, and Burgunder.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
