Hi MB experts,

I have a friend that own a Antique Shop, and he come into possession of this pens, among others. Unfortunately he doesn't know too much about pens, and myself I'm not a person that knows too much about MB pens. I would like to know if I have identified correctly the ballpoint models, also an appropriate value if is possible. He do not have the boxes for any of the pens. I have only this pictures that I took them this morning.

I'm not the seller, I'm just the guy who want to help.

Is this a Montblanc 164 Classic Vermeil and Bordeaux Doue?

Also this is a Montblanc Solitaire Classique BP/MP set, including the 3 pen case (also a Solitaire model)? The pencil has a dent on the lower barrel. Also he said the set is marked 925.

I suggest researching their market value on eBay: search for the pens and include sold items in your search.

I happen to have the silver solitaire ball point. Some years ago I paid $100 for it used at a pawn shop when they were about $500 new. Mine is genuine. To buy a similar MB BP in all silver is about $1200 new.

Thank you for reply. I had a look on Ebay, but the price range so wide, that is hard to make a narrow appreciation. Also the pens that are on Antique Shop have no boxes or papers, really hard to appraise correctly.

Thank you!

I didn't had any intention to sell the pens here, simply the pens are not mine. Also I didn't mention the shop name or how to get in contact with, just explaining the context. That is in the margin of rules and guidance.

The Antique Shop owner has own clientele, trying to get an value/ appropriate price to sell was the only intention that I had. Also I wanted to know if I have identified correctly the models, which seem I've done pretty well...

Anyway, I have an idea now and later I will pop in to the shop and give him my advice.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
