Got Your Goat

De Atramentis Goat ink is part of their Zodiac series. The color is an intense, vivid, almost electric fuschia.

A while back, I had a sample vial of DA Fuschia, which I put in a needlepoint-nibbed Delike New Moon. It, too, showed flat color, with little shading, and it seemed stingy and dry, so it frustrated me a bit.

I like this Zodiac ink much more than the sample of Fuschia, because it's in the more generous Dollar Demonstrator... something to keep in mind for future bright-color inking.

Dry time? Pretty swift. For which this southpaw is grateful. Water 💦 resistance? Nope. See? Though I seldom drop water on my writing, except like now, when it's on purpose.

It's a cheerful color, and makes me smile. :)

The 'chroma' reveals a single color element.

Many thanks to Amberleadavis, Supreme Inky En-Abe-Lawyer , for allowing me to try this ink!

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

That's a really nice color. I might look into it for the regular Fuchsia (not my zodiac sign). I presume that this is *not* Document Fuchsia -- I've had bad luck with the Document line for spreading). Thanks for the review (my wallet says otherwise...).

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Thank you so much for doing this review. I also have a sample of this ink and I love it! And from my limited experience with the ink, it seems to clean up fairly well.

In many ways, I am surprised that our Supreme Inky-En-Abe-Lawyer, amberleadavis, would send samples of this ink out. It is a beautiful, eye-searing pink - her favorite. But I am thankful that she did!

I found the Document Fuchsia to be the best behaved of the CMYK+white colors in the document line. It also has a sort of chalky look when dry, so I'm thinking this is the non-chalky version. Otherwise, it looks like the same color and quite nice.

Thanks for the review, Sailor Kenshin!

Those bright colors are growing on me. Thanks for the review.

That clear pink Goat would be good for mixing with the blue black I have sitting in the back of the cupboard. Add some pop.

Glad you are all enjoying!

The creator of De Atramentis gave me this ink to share!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
