Would Anyone Please Compare These Two Inks (Wagner / Alt-Goldgrün) For Me?

I have found no place where I can compare Rohrer & Klingner Alt-Goldgrün and Diamine Wagner from the music set side by side. Is there anyone who has both of them and can post a photo of some writing, to see what the differences are? I have searched the forum, but I've only found a mention that Wagner could be like Alt-Goldgrün plus De-Atramentis Gold, but I don't really know what this means, since both inks have the word "gold" in their name.

Of course, I've also searched the web for photos of both inks, but each of them looks so different in different photos that it's difficult for me to figure out what the difference really is.

As I said, some photo where I can see both of them would be OK, but you needn't do a complete comparison if you don't feel like it. If not possible, a simple explanation about the differences and similarities between the two inks would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks beforehand!

I have both inks. I will try to do a comparison using a dip pen soon. I also have Diamine Safari.

It does. I promised I performed a seach before posting! I can understand how I didn't find the comparison, because I failed to see that some might not include the name of the inks in typing, which is the case here, so they wouldn't appear in search engines. But I should have certainly found visvamitra's review on Alt-Goldgrün. His are among my favourite ink reviews, and I've read all he's written about the Diamine Music Set, including Wagner.

The blog, which I didn't know, looks great, too. I'll have a thorough look at it when I have time (though I've already read the comparison among the three inks there).

I didn't know Diamine Safari, but I've seen in the blog above that it's a really nice shade of green. If you get to do the comparison, it'll be greatly appreciated, though now I've already learnt something about these inks with the advice above.

The forum search feature is not good. in fact, it's terrible.

to REALLY search the forum, use google, but then add "site:fountainpennetwork.com" at the end of the search, which forces google to only return results from FPN

i found the first two using google and doing an image search for "wagner goldgrun"

The visvamitra reviews were found by going to the ink review index :https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/160612-index-of-ink-reviews/ and finding reviews by the same person.

I wasted 15mins using google to try and find reviews by the same author before google presented the review index and a light bulb finally went off!

Glad i could help :)

You did it again! The tip for searching the forum using Google is great! :)

And I'm afraid I didn't google for "wagner goldgrün". It didn't enter my mind for a second that I could find information outside FPN!

Lots of good google tips there

Try not to spend more than 12 hrs lost in a google rabbit hole. I’m not entirely kidding either... once you get started it can be as bad as Wikipedia...

Oh! I've only had a look at the index, but I've already seen a couple of things which interest me! As if I needed yet one more addictive thing in my life!

Don't forget, this is the perfect chance for a CRV - Co Razy View. One of you writes on half the sheet with one ink and sends the letter to the other person who writes on the black side with the second ink. (It works best if you use two sheets so that you can each see one). We love to see examples.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

It does help, for sure! Thanks a lot! It's a very clear comparison... And great handwriting, too!

I've never found the time to have a look at those CRV posts I've seen on FPN. When I first came here I visited a couple of them, but I couldn't even figure out what a CRV was!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
