Adapting To Mail Problems - Workarounds To Airmail

Recommended Posts

Given the current situation we all (most) have more time on our hands - just when the post is becoming restrictive. I have penfriends who are twisting my arm into emailing :yikes:

My first workaround is to send images of a written letter, the second is to create pdf flipbooks. I did this for free atan online website but foolishly did not bookmark the site. Anyone help out? I just want a nice handwritten letter as a pdf file that opens like a pdf magazine.

It can be done, I have done it, I just dont remember where!

Was it the website Issuu?

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

Can you elaborate on how the UK post is becoming restrictive? I'm a little concerned about a pen I ordered from UK a week ago (I'm in the US). (Sorry this is a hijack of your post)

BTW, if you need free PDF software, my team developed www.MagicExhibits.com to take all sorts of documents and photos and covert them to PDFs. The current version allows a certain number of pages for free with a cost after that. The next version will be completely free, but shoot me a PM and I'll add a thousand pages to your initial account.

I checked with the UK Post Office and while europe seems mostly OK further afield has become problematic. Australia for example needs stop-overs for example and this is becoming difficult as countries shut down.

I ordered a micro-SD card which will be here by Saturday but a fountain pen won't be here until Weds. Our post office is now basically operating a reduced service and refusing bulk mailings. Sadly it is only gonna get worse.

Oh and they just put the prices up!

International delivery

We are working with our airline and postal/courier partners across the globe to maintain services. The number of countries that we can access is changing daily.

Most major export routes remain open and we continue to accept and process mail. Specifically, Royal Mail’s international services to the USA remain operational.

There are significant delays to a number of countries right now due to a lack of available transport links and suspension of certain country’s postal operations. We strongly advise not to send items to destinations listed as ‘On suspension’. For country by country updates in our International Incidents Bulletin

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
