This pen arrived today, and I was pleased to find it a much lighter blue than the royal blue I had been expecting. Its verging on an ice blue.

Is this a change, or have all the photos Ive seen of this pen misrepresented the colour? Even this picture makes it look several shades darker and more vivid than it really is.

Mine is like a light jeans blue, kinda like Noodler's Polar Blue, and not as shiny, however, since this is not stamped, but stonewashed, there should be no two alike.

If you go to the button ‘More Reply Options’ next to the Post button you can follow it through from there ... it would be interesting to compare the colour of your wife’s pen!

Yes, I suppose mine is a bit like that, if not even lighter. I get that the stone washing means no two are alike, but does it affect the depth of colour too? I suppose it may do! Well I’m glad mine got a good beating up and it made it turn pale as a result

I don't have one, but that is a very nice pen! The fact that it is a light blue appeals to me more than a regular royal blue.

Here’s mine.

fpn_1585663559__ffacbe27-b370-498d-9b6d-

This little pen got me started with the fountain pen hobby. I got lucky with it, because it performed 100,0% straight out of the box and it has a really nice nib. I’ve only had one ink in it and have never even flushed it. It simply works, always. Since then I’ve learned the hard way that they’re not all like that). As an instrument of fine writing, this little bugger isn’t my best, but it has a place close to my heart. Figuratively but also literally: it is always in my shirt pocked, every day, everwhere.

I, too, believe Kaweco sport pens are excellent!

I am curious what your "best" pen is?

     Kind regards,

Aha, so yours does look a bit darker, Whichwatch!

I sort of regretted ordering it .... before it arrived and I saw the true colour, and it wrote perfectly first time. Strangely, though, Amazon (I try to buy from other vendors ahead of them but not this once ...) sent the normal Kaweco tin - and the pen in a plastic bag outside it! Must have been a busy shift at the distribution centre. The nib wasn’t quite screwed in properly, but once I realised that I was very happy. A great little pen, much nicer than the plastic Sports, and even the Liliputs.

Mine looks like a stone washed blue jean color. I like the color a lot!

Without wishing to go off-topic... to make it as objective as possible, I will limit myself to new pens (not vintage) and a few basic criteria: durable, good materials, good construction, good nibs, tight quality control, works straight of the box without the need for tuning, good value for money. Then it’s hard not to choose Sailor’s 1911 Standard and Pro Gear Slim pens. If you go up a notch on the price bracket, then I think the Pilot Justus 95 might be the best new fountain pen that you can buy today, bar none.

Going back on-topic, buying my little AL Sport was probably the best fountain pen acquisition I ever did because it started the whole journey for me and that little pen has never, ever let me down. It’s an ideal EDC pen and also a ton of fun.

I ordered mine from amazon as well. It came like yours with the plastic bag underneath the pen box. Mine is a lighter shade that does not look like the image on the amazon listing. It looked true blue or maybe as another poster put it Royal Blue. Looks a bit less distressed as well.
