New Sailor Usa 50 State Ink Series - North American Exclusives

Nibs.com

Recommended Posts

Available exclusively through North American retailers, Sailor's new USA 50 State Ink Series will introduce a specially themed ink for each state in the union. Each 20 ml bottle is specially packaged with a design featuring the outline of the state being featured.

The series kicks off with a deep blue for California, inspired by the waters of the Pacific Ocean, and with a rich purple for Colorado, inspired by that state's official flower, the columbine. Our first shipment is expected to arrive this week - each bottle is $25.00.

Interesting. But not cheap....

I'm not all that wild about the first two offerings (I have a lot of similar purples already) and I'll hold off on California until I see some comparisons with other inks in that range (I'm hoping that it will be a replacement for MB Leo Tolstoy, but on my screen it looks a little too green for my taste).

Wondering what they will do for PA (where I live) and NYS (where I'm originally from)....

Thanks for the heads up, though. I'll be curious as to how Sailor will depict the other 48 states.

$25 for 20ml of ink ?... some of the current ink pricing is absolutely crazy...

I simply refuse to participate in the ridiculously high priced inks...

Too many reasonably priced alternative inks to purchase.

"specially themed ink for each state in the union".

Doesn't sound to me like new colors, just new packaging.

Polite pass...

Unless, they can really nail Nevada, I'm not interested.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Yikes!
That's expensive!
Do these inks do anything special to justify that price!?!?!

It has magical properties, you see.

 😝

Seems as though that Sailor is trying to move themselves upmarket...

Same thing I said.
I was excited about "Maine" and "Georgia" but at those prices I'll patronize other ink makers.
$1.00+ per ML just isn't worth it.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
