Vinta Piloncitos

Many thanks to inkantadora for the sample.

Vinta Piloncitos is a light greenish brown colour with golden shimmering particles. There's a pinkish tone where the ink pools. The flow is somewhat dry with little lubrication which makes you feel like writing with a blade on sandpaper. The particles seem rather large in size and unevenly distributed. Personally I'm indifferent to shimmering inks, and while this is quite a curious colour, the lack of lubrication puts me off.

Beautiful colors and the shimmer. Reminds me a lot of Troublemaker Kelp Tea for the range of hues. Probably not for me due to the translucency and shimmer, but I can see it being a great art ink.

Your splash looks like a face looking to the right, with a kind of green hair clumps on the top and top left. Or else a stylized head on fire :D

Interesting color. Not sure it's for me, but it's interesting. Thanks for the review.

I haven't heard of this brand before. Where's it out of?

Thanks. I'll check out their website tomorrow (er, today, since it's after midnight). Vanness often has inks before any other US retailer gets them (for the longest time they were the ONLY place to get Akkerman inks outside of the Akkerman store in the Hague).

Hey! Im glad I gave you this one even if you dislike it 🙃 Seeing your splashes makes me happy. I actually prefer this one for art or in writing sessions with uber wet nibs. Its a weird color, which makes it totally my cup of tea, though I know its not for all.

Very Nice reviuw

Love that green colour but not sure whether I am a fan of Shimmering inks.... But they seem to be ruling nowadays

Today people get tricked by (neo)capitalism :)

What is this, oh my goodness. A drab muted olive green with sparkles? It's like an introvert person trying to act like an extrovert, totally unexpected and bizarre.

Great review! Thank you for sharing your results with us. I am not so sure that I like the color, but it is growing on me.

Beautiful. How do you feel about this color vs J Herbin Vert Empire?

I have no idea. I've never tried Vert Empire (can you imagine that!).

I kinda like the colour (sans the particles).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
