Yay! My Montblanc highlighter finally arrived from the UK. The Plastic is s a bit scratched, but it's fine for everyday carry:

From the box, I'm guessing mid nineties?

Just added a Rollerball to my collection :) Just not any Rollerball :) The 75th Anniversary Solid 18K Gold 162 Le Grand Rollerball, which is limited to only 75 pieces :)

I also treated myself to a very nice German made watch, to go with the pen :)

My local B&M recently had some rebate on several NOS pens.

I could not resist a lonely little 145 ultra black.

Hi everyone - Tom Kellie is alive and well.

He and a friend were out enjoying the weather a couple of days ago and sent me these pictures.

It seems many were out enjoying the day. Even the SWAT police need a break - even it is just to catch up with friends:

That's great news! Thanks 5Caveliers.

Now is probably not the best time to be buying second hand stuff from strangers on eBay, but I bought an MB Siena 3 pen pouch in burgundy which should be here next week. Now, I’ll have a black case for my black Legrand set and a burgundy to match my burgundy Legrandes. I’m weirdly satisfied by that.

In 2019 I bought a Hemingway from FPN member Henry Mosberg.

Today the Hemingway returned from a trip to Gary Lehrer with a broad nib in place of the extra fine.

Two fine gentlemen combined to make a perfect pen in hand.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just placed an order for the 146 Martele. I have been contemplating this pen for a while, and the recent picture and comments pushed me over the edge, now I just have to wait for it to arrive...……….

What nib size did you get? Mine is a F nib (daily driver) and keep having second thoughts about getting an OB.

In the past 6 months, I bought the Blue Hour ballpoint and the ordinary black glossy Marc Newson (in M).

I am very happy with the Blue Hour (it sometimes easy to use a ballpoint - mainly if you have to sign a lot of documents and you don't want to take the time to wait for the ink to dry or to use a blotter) but I am not yet fully sure about the Marc Newson. The looks are stunning (imho) but I still have to get use to a different grip compared to other pens and thus a different writing experience.

And in the next 6 months, I reallyreallyreally want to buy the Martelé (in F). Really. It reminds me of my Mcusta Shinra Emotion Tsuchi pocketknive.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
