It's Show Time, Fellow Members!  The celebrated Philly Pen Show is taking place this weekend and the excitement is in the air.

Fountain pen aficionados are in agreement as to one of the must-dos at Pen Shows--a visit to the Franklin-Christoph (F-C) table.  My latest writing instrument treasure just arrived as I cannot attend the Show.  It's one of the approximately 50 model options created by Franklin-Christoph, called Model 46 Winter Pine.
Seems like every fountain pen devotee everywhere is either already doing business with Scott C Franklin and The F-C Team, or, getting ready to do so.  Approx. 22 years ago a friend introduced me to Scott.  And that friend said, "Howard, I want you to meet the nicest guy in the pen business--Scott Franklin."  It was Jim Rouse who facilitated that introduction.
The F-C organization founding principle is based on the Latin phrase, "Fortitudo et Fides", which translates to strength and honor/faith/loyalty.  And that's not just a slogan-they are truly customer-loyal.  F-C customers feel good about being treated like family...I have heard this many times from many people.  Now before I mention the Winter Pine fountain pen features and benefits, let's take a closer look at an unusual (actually rare) F-C commitment related to peace of mind regarding our purchases.   The Lifetime Warranty>
"All Franklin-Christoph writing instruments are guaranteed against mechanical failure, regardless of age. The writing instrument or part will be repaired or replaced at no charge. Incoming shipping and insurance costs are the responsibility of the client.

Any writing instrument or part which cannot be repaired, and is no longer available will be replaced by a similar Franklin-Christoph product of equal or next greater value, as desired by the client.
This warranty is transferable to subsequent ownerships. No proof of purchase documentation is required."

Almost every warranty issued by a pen manufacturer anywhere in the world limits the time period to 1,2,3,5, or 10 years.  A lifetime warranty is available from only a few other companies, but, there is no transferability clause to future owners, and, proof of purchase is required.  Thus the bold F-C guarantee provides us total assurance regarding both the high quality of F-C products, and, the Company's confidence in their current and future ability to deliver consistent product quality and quality control to the degree that they fully stand behind what they sell, and then some!

Now back to my new fountain pen...what is the biggest driver of my enthusiasm and pleasure from this pen?

F-C High Performance Steel (HPS) nibs are the talk of the town, well, actually the fountain pen community!  F-C commissions the German nib manufacturer to make F-C nibs to exact specs, and the result is pure writing pleasure.  When a friend purchased her first F-C fountain pen, she described the nib as "a champion responsive nib"--an interesting comment and true.  Writing with this new #46, I observe that the feeder dispenses a steady ink flow.  Close your eyes and write and you will think it is a gold nib on your pen.  I routinely use both #5 and #6 size F-C HPS nibs--the Model 46 design is fitted with #6.  The overall exceptional experience is intensified with the strong and stable yet light-weight, eye-catching premium acrylic produced in the USA.

Additional advantages of this and other F-C fountain pens...The unique F-C block threads are located at the end of the grip section. They are smooth and do not adversely affect the fingers, and further, there's supplementary protection from these block threads relating to air regulation.  A convenient and versatile triple filling system:  short (2 included) or long cartridges, converter (included), or eyedropper--a little silicone grease is recommended.  Clear-cut cap posting.  Leather pouch included.  Worldwide free shipping is offered with the Winter Pine and other models, and when we add it all up, the outcome for us is unmatched value, IMHO.

If you are fortunate to be in Philly attending the Pen Show, you can see and test drive many different models and nibs at the F-C table.  But if you are not attending the Show, consider a trip to the F-C website (https://www.franklin-christoph.com).  In addition to a variety of pen choices and nib grade choices are many highly-desirable accessories.  Examples....Notebooks and notebook covers, "Penvelope" pen cases, bag pack, sling bag, Padfolios, watch roll, belts, timepieces, gift cards, pen case inserts, and more, even ink!   Enjoy!
