just so you have also a different point of view (I'm not judging your video)

I find videos boring, I cannot patiently watch, if at all, I skip through quickly only to the points I can see the pens.

I would much rather read a written review, and look at some good pictures

but that might just be me

thanks nonetheless

How about if I write out the transcript of my YouTube video and embed some screen shots along the way? LOL Just kidding... :lticaptd:

So the concensus is I should stop posting video reviews on FPN?

Not at all - you just had 3 people tell you they prefer written reviews, and that's fine. I enjoy both media, and am more than happy to watch your videos, so please keep making them - and feel free to put a post up here for the benefit of anyone who might be interested to surf over to YouTube!

I've enjoyed your video reviews. My preference is for video so I can see the pen and the finish that may be difficult to capture in a still photo. I've picked up Galaxy and Amber may be next. I REALLY wish Tuzi was available in the 308 or 480.

Thank you!

No, it is not against the FPN rules so I wonder why people express their dislike at the particular thread.

Just skip it if it isn't to your liking.

I am a subscriber and enjoys YT reviews both short ones and long ones. Hope to see more of your content in the future.

Thanks folks! I thought I might be committing some forum faux pas or breach of etiquette posting video reviews in a predominantly text world. I'm working on restoring a 1954 Parker 51 at the moment. Very satisfying! :)

I used to enjoy reading "The Pen Habit's" transcripts of video reviews. This method keeps both camps happy.

Add lightness and simplicate.

I too enjoy your reviews, and you are a pretty good guitar player too :)

I mostly collect vintage but have my share of Chinese pens and I really enjoy a well put together and entertaining review.

Again, I seem to be too late on the Tuzi and Amber the Cat, Darn :(

Loved the video! Please don’t stop making them. The Penbbs and Van Gogh really piqued my interest because I was actually able to see them. I appreciate the time and effort that went into producing this video. Well done!

I have not failed. Ive just found 10,000 ways that wont work.

I haven't watched the video yet and I’m not criticizing it. Regarding the FORMAT of the information video vs. text + photos, I much prefer the latter also because with text you can skip around, and read it at your own pace - fast, slow, skim - whereas with a video I feel I’m a prisoner of the video maker and must acquire the information at a pace and in the order that the video maker chooses to use.

This is likely a generational thing.

I prefer any and all contributions because I learn so much from everyone's experiences, likes, criticisms and such.

I like both video/audio and text (handwritten or otherwise) as well as all the pictures of cool stuff I'll never get to personally use.

Thanks

Be Happy, work at it. Namaste

Why kidding? It would be far better for many people. I am in the school that finds videos tedious. You do not even mention how long it is, or what pens are covered, and it is not worth my time clicking to find out. If there were a transcript, preferably somewhat condensed, it would be the work of moments for me to skim enough of it to decide whether I want to read further, in which pictures may also be influential.

If I found it all utterly fascinating then I could bathe myself in the video experience as well. ;)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
