I actually have a number of pens that I plan on buying this year, they are not new pens, but I love their design and want them to be part of my collection.

1) Pelikan M400 tortoiseshell SE

2) Montblanc Meisterstuck Le Grand Diamond

3) Nakaya Piccolo Toki-Tamenuri

4) Aurora 88 Black Mamba

For now, that is the list at no particular order which could always increase.

I ordered a special edition Franklin-Christoph Model 20 Marietta in Smoke and Cranberry that should be here Friday. I also ordered a Diplomat Excellence A2 Skyline in Blue from La Couronne de Comte today.

I've been only buying a pen ever two to three months and don't see buying many over the next few months after these two.

Waiting on a Minimalistica, Vintage Pelikan 400 should be here in a week or so. That brings my quiver up to nine. Ten is my maximum, but I don't foresee another purchase this year.

Add lightness and simplicate.

I ordered a steel Lamy 2000. Also I'm expecting to meet with a private seller this evening and if all goes well I'll bring home a Pilot Custom 823, Pelikan M1000 and Delta Dolce Vita Federico.

Committed to not buying any more pens in 2020, but I'm still waiting on a Montblanc 149 Calligraphy Flex that I ordered from LCDC in the Black Friday sales.

Just ordered the Maiora Impronte from Vanness.

Can't wait to see it in person.

That looks beautiful. Would love to hear how it performs when you get it. And pictures please!

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

~ A pen which hasn't been announced yet, but may be released by March or April.

I canceled the Diplomat order when it wasn't actually in stock as the website said and now ordered a Franklin-Christoph Model 02 in Italian Ice with a M SIG nib. I used to have one of these in Antique Glass but sold it when I needed the money for something else at some point. It's funny that back in 2017 when I got the first one I had to wait months on the waiting list for it and this time it was available off the shelf. I don't know if the demand is just not there anymore for the "glass" finishes or they have increased production.

No matter. F-C has great service and got it shipped same day and with free FedEx 2 day shipping I will have it Wednesday. Also the new SIG nibs are much better then I remember them being the two times I tried them in the past.

I canceled the Diplomat order when it wasn't actually in stock as the website said

Honestly, I cannot recall a single instance in which LCdC stated on a product page in its web shop catalogue that the particular item is "now in stock", "currently in stock" or something else to that effect, although I have seen many instances where it stated a product will be "in stock from ‹month› ‹year›" and then that turned out to be incorrect (evidenced by my pre-orders not being fulfilled even when the stated month was well and truly over and a fortnight more has passed).

Only the "LAST MODEL" items on the Specials board (read: last remaining unit/s of that model in store stock on clearance) can be reasonably safely assumed to be in stock at the time of ordering, but there's still a slim chance of being beaten to the punch, because as far as I understand how LCdC operates, when an order is accepted there is no per-SKU inventory counter in its web shop application that gets automatically decremented.

Luckily, the Aurora 888 and Pelikan M205 pens I ordered from its "WINTER SALE" specials two days ago have already been dispatched by DHL, although they still can't seem to get that part right. *sigh* Apparently my old phone number (associated with a SIM that is not in any of the mobile devices I use these days) has been supplied to DHL yet again, and so notifications and access codes are being sent to it, even though I've updated the contents of that data field in LCdC's web shop application more than three weeks ago, as well as raised the issue with staff there in email.

The two bottles of ink I've also placed on the same order are not in stock, and I'm advised they will be dispatched separately later. I'm done trying to help them save on shipping costs that the company will wear (because all my orders qualify for "free" international shipping) and directing them to postpone and group shipments; all that has done in the past was give rise to more processing and handling errors on their part, and delays and inconvenience to me as a "friendly" and well-intentioned customer.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

I'm (im)patiently waiting for the Lamy 2000 F nib I ordered from Cult Pens to arrive, likely sometime later this week. That's going to be it for me this year, unless something I run into at Fontoplumo when I'm in Delft this July really, really speaks to me.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
