What are you all hoping to receive from Santa or Hanukah? Any plans for the New year? I always make a wishlist for the new year and of course have a few Pelikans on it :)

-contemplating getting my first m800, the Stone Garden

-m605 Blue marine

-m600 Ruby red or Berlin if they come up

oh, and I have the new m605 Stresseman coming soon! I have been waiting for this pen to come out for years, so I am counting it as a new year pen

I'd have to say that my Pelikan collection is pretty set... I can't imagine what I would want (pay no attention to the old geezer in the corner mumbling something about 'M600 Torts' )

I guess a properly priced Gaudi would get my attention.

Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year to all.

Do you mean a new color, oregano? Haven't thought about it. But if you mean something that's already on the market, I saw a really lovely M200 Blue Marble in the Pelikan case yesterday at Fountain Pen Hospital. And of course any or all of the M600 [something] and White models, especially the Violet and White.

Altho I'm pretty set the Berlin would be a lovely gift assuming you could even find one. Merry Christmas/Happy Chanukkah!!!

Id like an M800 Brown stripe, an M1000 of some sort (Stresemann probably), and some vintage Pelikans of 101 type. This is a long-term goal.

I'm pondering getting my first Pelikan! Would the M200 be a good first bird or would y'all recommend a different one?

(Also, I saw some old P10 and P20 Twists in the vintage category of Endless Pens. Would they be fun to use?)

An 805 with a steel nib exhibiting the same character as the 200 nib would suite me.

Add lightness and simplicate.

I started my Pelikan obsession collection with a franken M200... it was excellent and I haven't been able to stop buying Pelikans of any size and flavor since. I think it would make an excellent start.

The P10 and P20 pens can be fun, are probably much less expensive, but they are more in the "student pen" category and thus a notch below the 200 line. I have a ton of them but mostly they don't get used as often as the others.

I really want an m805 or m1005 if I can find a good deal. That is one of my first priorities for pen buying in the new year

I like the classic green or just black personally. That m600 red stripe looks pretty good as well though...

I googled images of the Berlin Fountain Pen and it is stunning. How many pens or editions were there in the City Series? I remember a few but I certainly dont remember the complete collection.

Thanks, Tom. Very helpful — quite the list — I remember each city release (although, not necessarily the pen) except for Shanghai.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
