Which Moonman Nib Unit For The Jinhao 992

John Cullen

Ebay has lots of nib units for sale for Moonman pens.

Some list that they fit the M2.

Some list that they fit the C1, C2, and M600.

They look similar.

Anyone know which fits a Jinhao 992? I want to buy a few but I would like to get the right one.

Thanks, jc

Jinhao pens don't use nib units, they are friction fit and have keyed feeds with a flat portion, compared to Moonman's typically round feeds. The 992 takes a size 5 nib, but I haven't been able to reliably swap them with any Moonman size 5 nibs. The Moonman nibs had a weird angle, though it may just have been that they weren't the right thickness.

HI

Thanks. I see the 992 nib unit does unscrew and i have just been hoping to find something that will fit in there and work. I did unscrew the nib unit from a Delike New Moon that I was able to use as a donor and its entire nib unit unscrewed and then screwed into the 992 and worked ok. Then, of course, I was without a nib in my New Moon.

So I have been trying to find a collar/feed/nib that will just swap into the 992.

Thanks

I wonder if you might think about getting a replacement for your New Moon. If you have one working in the 992 leave it and find a replacement for the Delike

So I have been trying to find a collar/feed/nib that will just swap into the 992.

I'm pretty sure the nib unit from/for a Monteverde Monza, which houses a far superior nib to that on the garden-variety Jinhao 992, will work. (I have both models of pen.)

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

well first off Jinhao use their own nib unit in the 991 and 992 ( and might be other models ) for their some but not all of their no.5 nib equipped models. And Delike / Moonman instead share nib unit of their own and was widely used by many other store / independent / fashion branded pens of other names. I just happen to be servicing a few of my pens today so I take out the Jinhao and the Moonman / Delike nib units and caliper out , and as well a 992 section to try them all .. short answer none of the fits , they use a different thread at the end and are of different length also and the diameter had a hair of difference.

If you want to use your delike / moonman nib ina 992 you had to pull them from their own nib unit and fit them onto Jinhao's own

Thanks everyone for replying and giving advice. Sorry I took so long to respond. The holiday made things a bit complicated.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
