Parker 51 Clutch Ring Repair

Recommended Posts

I have a First Year Parker 51 with a clutch ring that cannot be removed. I think someone glued it to the barrel. There are small dents in the ring that looks like someone tried to remove it with a tool in the past. Did Parker attach the clutch ring with adhesive during manufacture? This is the second pen that had a clutch ring held tightly in place but the other one had a good ring so I just left it alone. I'd like to replace the clutch ring on this one because of the dings on it. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Joe

Parker did not use an adhesive. I know of no one restoring pens that would do so though I know only a small circle of restorers.

The clutch ring is a tight fit and any corrosion or dried ink can make the ring appear fused in place. They eventually will wiggle off.

+1.....Take your time. Patience and soaking will get you where you want to go. An ultrasonic bath may help, but it has to be completely disassembled or prepared to replace the sac
