Parker Vector Clone ?

LazyPen

Recommended Posts

I've noticed that's possibile to find "parker im vector series" from china for less than 5/6 euro (shipped).

So i guess it's a clone but... from photo it seems to be a real parker.

I'm beginning to wonder which model came first, the Baoer 801 or the Vector. Some research on the Monteverde Impressa which looked the same as the Baoer 051. Likewise the Baoer 517 looks as though it became the Conklin Victory. I found an FPN forum discussing this sometime ago along with other websites who realised both Baoer pens had been in production for quite sometime before Yafa liked the look of the design and had the names they own engraved on them.

I'd be interested to learn more about this from other members.

Have Vectors from back in their heyday, have Baoer lookalikes too... they aint from the same production line. Caps/barrel/section bits dont interchange afaik on casual trying - didnt bother bringing out a bigger hammer.

So at the end... is this definitely a fake and, if yes, a bad fake ?

:)

apart from the hallmark Arrow clip, is it engraved with "Parker" anywhere?

The other issue is it's a Vector; a Parker IM is a complete different series nothing alike.

Yes, looking at the photo it is.

Yes, looking at the photo it is.

Looking closer it's clearly marked Baoer. It would be a fake if Parker was engraved instead. On ebay it's sold as a Baoer 801 clearly identifying the maker to a prospective buyer who is free to make a choice. After all as I found out, the Baoer 051 and 517 which was being manufactured several years before Yafa had Monteverde and Conklin engraved on them.

Which one now becomes a Fake? The issue is becoming a very indistinct grey area!

Where you see "baoer' ?!?

It looked like the one on the top left cap photo. I assumed the OP had taken photos of both pens for comparison. My eyes are not as good as they once were!

Theyre decent pens for the price :) some yrs back I bought a handful to tuneup & giveaway. Bought some stainless flighters and some lacquered blue & reds.

Think they had BAOER on the nib but nothing on the cap edge.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
