I've missed a few weeks, so... since anyone can "call for a posse" and I'm an "anyone"...

Pen Posse:

Would someone please pass this on the FB group. Thanks.

Crickets? Did you mean armadillos? I don't pretend to understand the zoological aspect of Pen Posse communication.

On the other hand, I think that to support the anyone-can-call-a-Pen-Posse principle I'll plan to show up. Whether some public-spirited Facebook user will repost this to FB remains to be seen. One of the ideas Ethernautrix put forward is that you have to be prepared for the possibility that nobody else will show up.

If the word spreads, let me add as a request that I'd like to try the relatively new Moonman #6 fine nib, used in the M600S and in several earlier Moonman pens, IIRC. I hope something magical happens, we have a full house, and someone offers me a Moonman to try. I am too old not to believe in magic, disenchanted as I was at the age of twelve.

One was already called for the 17th. It is the Pokemon Edition.

So you are saying we need to choose which one we attend?

Even if I don’t tell them where I go they find me. Some times I mess with them just for fun so they have something to report.

  • 4 weeks later...

So, not seeing any notice of a posse last weekend, the 8th, I just showed up at
Peter’s. Ended up watching a coup log good BBC mysteries by myself... the next day or two, though, I heard y’all were in Emeryville instead.

Sure would be nice to let us know other than on FB.

How did you find out they posted a notice on FB?

My experience was quite different. I went to Peter's this week and was greeted by a nice crowd. I was booed for being tardy but I got over it quickly.

NOTE: I gambled as I didn't see any posting!

A friend PM’ed to tell me y’all were in Emeryville.

Glad you got lucky last Sunday. After being alone, I just felt that debugging a new computer made more sense than driving to eat by myself.

you *really* didn’t know folks were going to be there?

any guess for pre-Xmas Sunday?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
