Hi - I have been trying to join for about 2mths but must have been mistaken for a spammer because of my ultra-safe but somewhat different Protonmail address. It seems Gmail is considered a safer option here!
I learnt to write with dip pens in the early '60's and made many holes in my pages, and then moved on to a FP at high school and moved to ball points after a few years. They leaked a lot in those days and many of my shirts sported a blue stain at the bottom of the pocket.
In my mid 30's I bought a Parker something or other, all metal, and used it for special occasions but lost it in my 50's. I bought a Lamy Al-Star with M nib to replace it. Recently I decided I wanted a finer nib and bought an F and an EF and was happy for a while. Then I noticed this and other sites and bought a Pelikan 400 F Tortoise which wrote very poorly so I sent the nib unit to the UK. It writes fine now and with some flex.
Then I wanted a stub and started grinding away on the Lamy M nib and didn't ruin it. I then read about the 1.1 nib, bought one and was very pleased.
I bought a Kaweco Schullpen which is very nice and also got a Pelikan 400NN nib unit in F but writes like an M. Then I got an M200 Smokey Quartz with an F and a B and really like the B.
I have just finished a few hours of writing with the Lamy 1.1 and think that if that was all I had it would be pretty good.
Oh, and somehow I also got a Mabie Todd Swan 3261 which is a lovely writer. I bought some ink too!
If my account had been activated 2mths ago this introduction would have been much shorter.
