Greetings All

I have been   over this auction since I saw it try to fly under the radar two weeks ago with the photos that were shown in the listing.

There was a little of everything from early Parkers to 1970 Jotters. The day was not cold enough to keep the competition away. :wallbash: Oh well.

I was outside for 4 1/2 hours today.

I had to pick and choose on what to bid on. Prices were good at times depending who was bidding on what.

Here are a few photos before auction started.

The box lot in the middle [ above ] went for $200 - $300 [ 3rd pencil from the right was a Parker bridge pencil ] That's why.

You get the idea on what battles to choose. some of the box lots had choice and some all for one price.

Well here is what I managed to take home.

Overview of what I manage to steel :D

A Century Fp from Whitewater WI above. [ Will need more information on this pen. ] :yikes:

A Vac parts pencil with PARKER VACUMATIC on the cap band. What was amazing that the jewel was still there. [ Need to look for the parts in my parts box. Maybe I'll get lucky. ]

Here is another pen set I snagged. EVER-RITE Fp set. [ Will need more information on this set.]

Well, over all I did well when buying in bulk today.Today was the most I ever spent at an auction :yikes:

When I added up all the units and divided into what I spent it is not so bad per unit.

BTW this auction was in my backyard [ 7 mile drive ]

I have a lot of work to do in cleaning and restoring all the pens I picked up since July this winter.

Later

Ken

I have a question about the box of mostly pencils (5th photo from the bottom). Is that a Silver Web pencil I'm seeing in the top of the photo? I've heard rumors of Silver Web pens, but have never seen one. Or is that just a Golden Web, and the lighting is bad?

I questioned the same thing. Silver web..wow... thanks noting it Ruth..

That is why I bid on that box lot Old Salt. One of my competition gave me a look after I won the lot. He missed it.

My question as well. Where have all these pens/pencils been hiding. Don't worry, I'm not competition, just madly envious!

Looking in the Parker Vac book this is a Sears Roebuck pencil [ material is wrapped around the metal ]

The auction must have been in Parkerland - Janesville or near about aera.

Auction listed in the local papers. Near Parkerland on the Rock/Walworth county border. 7 miles from my home.

Now it is snowing :wallbash:now. A day late , it would have kept some of the buyers away.

When you look at the grouping of pes/pencil, we were buying for choice and then by the box. When I divide the price that I paid with the number in the box the prices was very very good.

Thanks for the info. I have the book but found it was hard to look up specific things in it sometimes.

I'd heard whiffs of rumors about Silver Webs (I don't care for the Golden Web myself, preferring the Shadow Waves) but this is the first time I've ever actually seen anything that was an identifiable Silver Web. Even if just a pencil.

Yeah, I expect the look the other bidder gave you was similar to the one I probably got at the estate sale last year when I snagged the Forest Green 51 Aero I got for two bucks. Some guy was bearing down on that corner of the room just about the time I'd finished up going through the box. I did leave him a 51 Special, though. But cried about the mangled nib on a Morrison all the way home after getting breakfast.

Did all this stuff belong to ex-Parker employees or other collectors? I'm gob-smacked up here!

It may have been a former Parker Employee by what was therefor Fp's , Jotters & pencils. This was a living estate auction.

mitto did you look at the P51's photo? The two at the top of the photo [ hard to tell , bad lighting ] however both are Nassau green with the DJ having a

Yellowstone [ Yellow Mustard ] hood on it.

If you want to see someone that puts me to shame when picking up pens in Janesville. Checkout over on youtube [ AB RusticRelics ]

Brad picks up more than I do.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
