Lifomenz Display Case

I recently decided to upgrade my pen storage and came across this 20 pen display on the big river website. It looked nice and received solid reviews so I took a chance.

I'm really glad I did. The brand name is Lifomenz, a relatively new name trademarked by the Dongguan Jinbonasi Household Products Co., LTD. It arrive in a securely packaged container encased with styrofoam corner padding.

The first thing you notice about this display is the weight. This is a SOLID piece of gear. Without pens it comes to an impressive 5.33 lbs. Exterior dimensions are 12-1/8 W x 7-3/4 D x 3-5/8 H.

On first inspection everything about this display screamed quality. I actually did not expect it to be as nice as it is. Fit and finish are very good. Hinge hardware seems to be good quality and allows the top to open smoothly. The top of the display is actual glass, not plastic. The case itself has a very attractive ebony laminate overlay. I assume it is made of some type of wood under the laminate. The bottom of the display is covered with felt.

All-in-all this is an impressive piece for the money. Yes, it only holds 20 pens but it's a great way to show off your top 10 pens (and store another 10 underneath for rotation).

I have a similar case for some of my watches. It was around $200, which is far less than some of the bigger names like Venlo, but the quality is similar.

NICE looking....

I recently bought one of these Lifomenz cases exactly like the one in the picture and I couldn't be happier. It's truly beautiful and an example of quality craftsmanship for a very reasonable price. The careful packaging was also exquisite, so it impressed me even before I even had it unpacked.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
