Hi Fellow Members, here's some Good NEWs! First-Class Customer Service and Sales summarizes everyone's experience with Retailer Points Pens. This is the standard assessment I read and receive from other fountain pen admirers. Many fountain pens presented by Points Pens are not commonly seen--something different, unique, new. They are now introducing Narwhal, a pen manufacturer with a team of Technicians and Engineers who have more than 20 years of pen production experience. I just received my Poseidon Blue Narwhal with a fine nib--a pleasurable writing experience as this fountain pen feels comfortable in the hand and performs effortlessly. Narwhal makes everything in-house, nibs included, and their Quality Control is evident. The easy-to-operate inbuilt piston-filler provides more ink capacity than other filling systems. This writing instrument's design is attractive, and so is the price. Additionally, Points is offering a discount for all Members, through Nov. 30. To view all 4 colors/finishes available, visit https://www.pointspens.com, and when you go to Checkout, enter the following Discount Code, Fall2019, on the Order Summary Page.

Looks like some interesting stuff.

Does the discount apply to all items or just the "Narwhal" pen? What's the discount when you enter the code. I would like to know BEFORE I enter all of my "personal" information. Yes, it does make a difference as to whether I place an order. Particular interested in the Magna Carta pen (although they only offer a medium nib) and the six pen Penvelope.

How about more details and pictures with writing sample of your pen, please. Without that information this post sounds like it should appear in the Market Watch thread rather than the "Review" thread - imo.

Thanks for the heads up.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
