Is This A 146 Or A 149?

Bought this metal 'Ag 925 STOD' pen considering it as a MB 146. But when it arrived, it appeared to me to be way bigger and thikker than the MB 146.

Wonder if it could be a MB 149? But then I have also heard and read that there was no sterling silver 149. It is to be noted that the cap band does not say the number on it. The black pen, however, clearly say No.146 on the cap band.

I need help identifying the pen.

Thanks in advance.

The nibs is 146 so is the pen.

Seeking a Parker Duofold Centennial cap top medallion/cover/decal.
My Mosaic Black Centennial MK2 lost it (used to have silver color decal).

Preferably MK2. MK3 or MK1 is also OK as long as it fits.
Preferably EU.

Also I'm guessing it is from before 1992 because in an old 1992 catalog I have it shows MB models with both clear and lined ink windows, indicating the style was transitioning from clear windows at that time.

This is the largest member of the Montblanc Solitaire Pure Silver Collection and it is an 146.

Thank you for this link ardene! I have tried to find some of this info for quite awhile...

pity though, as my wishlist just got substantially longer.

Here it is reported that it is from 2003-2007. https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/238374-pure-siver-146/

Yes, it could be, if mitto's pen has the striped ink window—hard to see. I thought at first it had the plain window. A model like this is available starting in a 2002 catalog so those dates make sense.

Yes, that's it... the Pure Silver... I bought a Martele instead, but I think would have preferred the Pure Silver. It is one of my favorites.

With a pen such as that, the silver cladding will make it appear thicker, is the thread in the cap plastic or metal? If its plastic, then the cap will definitely appear thicker due to the added cladding. The same applies to the blind-cap. (or cone)

Its definitely based on the 146.

The threads are plastic. But the cap is not only thicker than the cap of the black 146 but is also way longer.

Yes, Joane, the pen has a striped ink window and has a two tone 18k nib.

146. Somewhat of a rarer pattern. I had asked questions about this model in the past, but forgot the official name of it.

Thank you, kinglarge.

Easy mistake to make. I also thought the same thing initially.

I like searching for references. Thankfully there are a number of thorough ones.

I haven't directly compared my silver fibre guilloche to a standard 146, but I do suspect that it too has a longer cap than the standard pen.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
