In most pictures online, the yellow in S9 looks quite bright, not mustardy. I'm hoping that's the case.

This page is pretty good for viewing the rods, especially the short videos. Notice how bright the yellow in the Yellow/Black Ripple looks?

you must remember nonetheless that batches can change.

Mr.Kandan: I don't see an option for a gold-toned Jowo EF steel nib. Can I get this (I think gold-toned hardware is best for a yellow ripple pen)?

If you do not find it in the options they have probably run short of the Jowo EF gold tone,

may I suggest a Bock EF gold tone? They are just as good (actually I have a slight preference for Bock).

While I love Bock nibs once they're sorted out, I've had a few bad ones lately (including my last Ranga) which necessitated getting a replacement feed and/or nib&feed assembly. Several nib pros seem to believe that quality control is better at Jowo. I wonder how the S9 material would look in all chrome.....

well, I don't want to digress to much

but there's quite a few yellow pens around that are matched with chrome

here is one, that has a vaguely similar black-yellow pattern

but I think also Parker mandarin and Pelikan 205 yellow are chrome finish

Thank you. Is that chrome? My eyes/brain make me see gold. Weird....

I'll think about it.

This page shows many of the ebonites pretty well. The yellow (if it's the same) is bright but not burning. I think I agree that chome would go fine with this shade. Now, I've got to commit to it versus all the other attractive options...

absolutely chrome/silver toned, yes

by the way, out of curiosity, google "yellow pens" you will notice a large majority has silver trim...

After all that, I wound up ordering a solid teal (4C, chrome clip, chrome EF Jowo nib) last night. I decided that I'd rather order a polished ripple in the future.

I could be interested in a Model 8 if I could get it about 1/2" shorter. Is that possible?

Ok Sir. We will do our best.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
