Kwz Ink Blue Black

KWZI Blue Black (regular non-iron-gall) is a rather neutral blue black that doesn't lean too teal (Tsuki-yo), too purple (Pilot Blue Black) or too faded grey (R&K Salix, Sailor Shimoyo). It has excellent flow and smoothness. Even though blue blacks are not my kind of colour, it is a pleasure to write with. It has some water resistance.

Comparison

(In finer nibs it could look quite close to J. Herbin Bleu des Profondeurs. In swabs or broader nibs, the JH seems to be brighter, more "blue".)

~ Lgsoltek:

Thank you for including the Platinum 3776 Music nib images.

They bring out the character of this ink.

Very interesting that you chose to compare this ink with Bleu des Profoundeurs, as that was my immediate reaction to your first photographs of the ink samples too: "this looks a lot like my Herbin Bleu des Profoundeurs." The Herbin ink has a similar degree of water resistance, with the same dark gray line left behind. Thanks for the review!

“I admit it, I'm surprised that fountain pens are a hobby. ... it's a bit like stumbling into a fork convention - when you've used a fork all your life.”

thank you for showing this, I like KWZ Azure #5 and this looks like a very netral blue black.

Thank you for the comparison swabs, very useful, and very true to the actual colours, even on screen. It happens rarely in other reviews, where most blues look all alike, without showing the purple or the teal shades.

I had not tried this one (although I'm really fond of their IG Blue-Black). How does it look compared to that, and also to IG Blue #3?

Thanks for the review. And, well, not.... (Muttering "don't need more ink, don't need more ink don't need more ink....")

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Thank you! I just take the photos with my iPhone. Sometimes I'm not very happy about the photo quality because it can look quite different from what I see with my eyes. Anyway I use a grey card to set the white balance, so perhaps that helps.

Thanks for this review. I am hoarding blue inks. All shades that I can and I will keep an eye on this but to me does not seems as interesting as for instance CUlt Pens Dark Blue. Your reviews set the bar! thanks again!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
