Pelikan Leather Cases

My first Pelikan case was supplied with my first modern Pelikan the M805, it is the leather single pen model and fits the M800 with ease, it can also accomodate the M1000.

From this I picked up the leather two pen model on my purchase of my second modern Pelikan, the M815. My intention was to carry both my M800s in the two pen case however things were not as I expected.

The two pen case is tiny, barely fitting an M800 without it pushing the central divider over encroaching on the void for a second pen. This is the narrowest modern two pen case I've seen and there is no chance of fitting two M800's.

At best I can fit one M800 and a narrow Mont Blanc 164P to serve my ball point needs.

It's a great case, very well made and clearly of a high quality, I just wish it were wider and able to fit two modern sized pens.

My question for anyone who has the three pen model, what size pens will it accomodate with ease?

I'm hoping the pen slots are wider than the two pen model.

My last question, is the vintage Pelikan case shown contemporary to the mid 1950s Pelikan 400 and 450 pencil?

Thanks.

My 3 pen case can accommodate 3 M1000s therefore M8xx models fit fairly easily. The leather can stretch a bit to accommodate. I do think the 3 pen case is a little roomier than the 2 pen case. The other pen case you show looks to be from the 1980s and would not be contemporary to the 400/450. It can be found in the 1988 catalog under model name TL 21, product number 974 014.

Many thanks for an excellent response, much appreciated. Now to order the 3 pen case with confidence.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
