I am using two of these four (of many more), Aurora 88P (the top pen, in case your cap recognition is not in full flight) and the lovely blue Optima.

The other two, not currently inked, are original 88 models, with chrome and nikargenta caps.

Just received this beautiful Aurora 88 Black Mamba. The glimmer off the guilloche finish is hard to capture, but it is really stunning. I had Dan Smith do a smooth architect grind on the medium nib, and it is wonderful to write with.

I know this mamba can grow on me, must not look...

I'm using a very peculiar Italian pen today, actually I just got it today.

It's a pen signed by the male fashion maker Ermenegildo Zegna, but upon inspection it's clearly made by Omas.

It's a modern pen, black with silver trim, it's a CC pen, with a 14k nib, which happens to be rather flexy!

It came in a box that clearly gives away the Omas origin (grey suede inside the box, and pen sleeve, exactly like my Ogiva)

I took a chance on it as I had never seen this pen before, set up a lunch meeting with the seller during the office lunch hour, and met him to see and buy the pen!

The guy turned out to be quite a friendly character, not interested in pens, but collecting watches!

We spent a pleasant half hour talking of our collections, and passions over a coffee.

He has never used the pen, (he has a few nice rollerballs though...).

Anyhow, I went back to the office with the pen and filled it up this afternoon with Waterman Serenity to test it.

The nib positively surprised me, and interesting feature, the feed is ebonite!. The pen itself does not look like any other Omas I know, quite peculiar.

Here is a quick cell phone pic

Similar to Sansenri, I'm carrying 3 Stipula Etrurias with me this week (and every week in fact :D )

Stipula Etruria Alter Ego 14k EF

Stipula Etruria Magnifica Rainbow 'clear' steel 1.1 stub

Stipula Etruria Fiesole 18k M

Case is a 3 pen case from Lamy. I like it because it's nice leather, fits huge pens and tt has dividers inside so pens don't scratch each other

  • 3 weeks later...

Here's one I picked up at the new Bertram's Inkwell store last Friday. Delta Don Quijote LE, sterling silver overlay on marbled green resin. This one is a limited edition of 805. Beautiful pen.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
