Lamy Nexx Question

Does anyone know the design history and timeline of this pen?

I want to buy the model with the loop on the end but finding that it seems to be an old model. Even when I order it from websites that specify this model, I receive the one without the loop.

Thank you in advance for your reply

Nexx M?

Discontinued AFAIK, youll have to order from eBay.

All I know is that it was Lamys underdog: they launched it as Safaris successor, and had a higher retail price. It never really caught much attention though, and it gradually felt out of Lamys own favour as they dropped the price on it and eventually discontinued it for good.

Not sure if the Nexx M has been discontinued, but the Nexx is still available and has every year limited edition colours issued like the other lines.

The change in the cap happened ca. 2 years ago.

They can also still be found, depending on how quickly a shop has sold the old stuff.

As far as I'm aware the Nexx M is still being made, certainly all the UK retailers I've looked at have it in stock. Also the M is about the same price as the Safari and the 'non-M' is less though the latter was changed with the plastic loop in the cap being removed - probably due to it being easy to crack/split/fail.

So I was told by the shopkeeper, when attempting to purchase a Nexx M in anthracite.

A quick glance at Lamy's website suggests I am wrong. Perhaps they didn't have any in stock and just wanted to sell me something else.

Thanks for the correction, dapprman!

Now hoping I'm not wrong :D - Lamy can be bad about passing round information - I asked one of my regular shops about the 2019 special edition Scala (purple/Dark Violet) having seen it in the promotional videos about a month earlier. Several weeks later he got back to me to let me know he'd only just found about it from his rep and wanted to know how I knew (so I sent him a link to the video - which is on YouTube but not the Lamy site ...)

Managed to get hold of one. It's so handy for using at work as it hangs nicely on my lanyard. Added bonus...if anyone wants to borrow it the cap stays on my lanyard (who's going to walk off with an unlidded pen?!).

Can't understand why these aren't more popular, writes like a dream

Endless Pens has the plastic and metal Nexx pens, and both show the loop.

I saw some on amazon.co.uk as well. Not all had the loop, but there were several.

Edited to add: I see you already got one. I have 3, two are metal.

Lovely pen, the Nexx. I prefer the grip to that of the Safari family.

I suppose it looks a bit strange possibly the reason it isn't more popular.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
