From China To Denmark

Fude

Recommended Posts

Hello from Denmark :)

I have been studying a year abroad in China, and i wanted a hobby that i could bring with me. I always thought calligraphy looked cool, and i wanted to improve my handwriting, so i bought a Hero 772.

What i dident know was that Chinese calligraphy obviously matches the Chinese alphabet, and at first i though the nip had been bend under transport, but found out that i had gotten a Fude Nib.

I have gotten used to the nib, and i really like it, but now being back in Denmark, a new adventure begins finding out where to buy ink, pens, and if possible Fude Nibs.

I have finally got myself to make a profile, and i am looking forward to chat with people, and get inspiration^^

Sea you around

Jesper

You would be finding it most useful to visit the Chinese fountain pen sub forum section here and well , as a veteran user of Asian fountain pen , one thing I had to point out, Fude is a term used by Japanese fountain pen Mfr on their up turned nib but while they might look similar, all of them ( even among same Mfr ) are different , Japanese Fude nib tend to be less aggressive in their up turn and curvature, and Chinese fountain pen Mfr, well they just call theirs calligraphy nib for obvious reason and there are multiple variant of them both Chinese and Japanese. Had them all , enjoy the difference and the way it can bring to writing but yes you are right, you need to get used to it first

Welcome to FPN!

I purchased a few "fude" nibs the last time I was in China. They are fun, but do take a bit to get used to.

As you try new things, you might like to give a stub nib or cursive italic nib a try. Like the fude nib, they give a nice line variation.

Enjoy!

Welcome! I have Danish ancestry, and have visited the country. Good luck in your search. My only fude nib came from eBay.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
