Congratulations

I am sure many here know what this pen is, but for people like me who do not, can you give some info about the pen?

It's a modern Wahl Eversharp Decoband made from celluloid.

They were introduced as an LE set, but the seller (fortunately) broke them up to sell separately.

Fewer things feel better than snagging a grail, especially if serendipity kicks end and you randomly find it at an awesome price.

A modern Decoband is one of my Grails too. Gorgeous over the top pens with astonishing attention to detail. I wish they were more affordable, but I don't fault them for pricing them like they do...

If they released a slightly smaller version with a different filling system (and a smaller box!) I'd be all over it. The Gatsby orange is a beauty to my eye.

Congratulations! Its a very well done comeback to the iconic Wahl Decoband vintage.

I'm positively giddy with excitement :D

I too find the Gatsby orange guilloche very attractive. My only criticism is the metal ring where the nib meets the section: it will be attacked by ink and probably become rusty over time. The filling system, I do like! A tiny smaller would help as a more comfortable writer. Id buy one as soon as they drop the metal ring. Edited by como

Isn't that the thinking behind the Signature collection? Don't think they have the orange guilloche but the size seems to be what you are after.

I just received a Doric ringtop that I got for what I’d call a decent price because nobody seems to want them but me. It came with a Manifold nib but I have a very nice Flexible that will replace it.

However, I can’t help but observe that it’s nice to get something that works right out of the box.

Very nice indeed. I'm glad you found what you were looking for.

Now. What's grail number 2? ;)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
