Teaser: another LOI arrived today. This was total serendipity of being in the right place at the right time (I wasn't really looking for another pen). Anyway, new to me, #18 of 25. Info and photos... soon.

Leonardo seems to be issuing new colours/versions even faster than Moonman can copy them!

I ordered red cherry with gold trim and elastic nib. Am curious... :)

That's a good starting point for some other variants!

I've ordered the Speranza too! waiting to see mine...

At the end of the day, that's all they are, too: copies. And while decent pens, not on the same level.

Copy of what?

For example, Moonman M800 is a copy of the Momento Zero.

yes, I was joking about that, Moonman copied the Momento Zero but Leonardo is faster!

They issued so many versions that Moonman will have a hard time copying...!

(btw, Mooman made such an unshamed copy that I am refusing to buy one, I'd rather buy one more Momento zero!)

Sansenri, we're on the same page. I really like this company, the people and the product.

I ordered the sunflower model this morning. Despite being a piston filler, the price of the newer Momento Grande is the same as previous version with capturered converter.

No new photos yet, but some new information about current production:

Leonardo is discontinuing some of the original MZ Grande colors. The two they are continuing to produce will now have the true piston filling system. I had ordered one of these right before Italy locked down. I heard from the store from which I had ordered yesterday. My pen is currently being produced, so I hope and expect it to come as a piston filler.

Lucky catch last week: spotted this limited edition Momento Zero with ruthenium plated nib and hardware. The pen had been made for Pen Chalet last year in a run of 25, long sold out. Even with the "Hi there!" Delta-esque orange barrel, the rest of the pen gives off a stealthy aura, in no small part to the glossy black and ruthenium treatment. And, as all their pens have been, a really nice writer with perfect flow for the M nib. Welcome home to 18-of-25.

I very much like the size and shape of this MZ Grande.

So something new arrived today. It's a Momento Zero Grande Forest, a limited production piece made for Casa Della Penna in Naples. The material is unlike any I've ever seen, with streaks of black and orange in yellow. The black and yellow combine to give parts of it a bit of a greenish tint. The trim and nib is ruthenium plated, and the imprint is filled in with black. It's called 'Foresta' but I think Jungle would be a more appropriate term. Sadly, I was told this was the last one. Cool addition to the family! Like an even crazier Harlequin.

best,

Doug

Just wanted to give a heads up - looks like these are back in stock. No affil, just thought people might want to know. I don't think I'll be getting one, but they do look nice!

Sand is one of the colours that’s going, La Couronne du Comte told me today. Real shame.

Another vendor told me a couple of months ago that Leonardo was moving from Italian materials to Taiwanese ... the newer Momento Zeros being an example. There does seem to be a different depth of colour and thickness of material in the newer versions, but I am basing that on only a few minutes comparing them at a pen show.

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

I believe Sand and Dark Hawaii will continue to be produced, according to Leonardo's comment. Or maybe is this a new change after that comment, only leaving the Dark Hawaii? Sand is gorgeous. I hope it stays.

Sand color is not going away. I placed an order about 6 weeks ago through Casa della Stilografica. They didn't have any in stock back then. I got an email stating that my order will be shipped in 3 days.

Speranza has arrived! Nice glossy ebonite finish (and the smell :) ). Nib writes on the wet side and writes well out of the box. Happy with my first elastic cut-out gold nib. It gives some softness and bounciness, not bad! Overall quite happy.

My Speranza is out for delivery via FedEx! It's the Musk Green with a stub nib. I can use the mood elevation, between the "sheltering in place" and the sweltering in 107ºF high today.

Yours looks beautiful, Como!

Thank you, David. I am curious about the Musk Green. I have not seen this finish in person. I debated between the gold and rhodium trim, and in the end went for the more traditional look. The rhodium trim is also very nice, and certainly gives a more modern look.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
