J. Herbin Lie de The can be super smooth and take many minutes to fully dry once it concentrates enough in a pen. More so the case compared to any other inks I've tried so far. A fresh fill is medium lubrication. I've used half a dozen KWZ inks so far, and they are quite lubricating, though still not Aurora Black levels. I'm actually not sure I like super-lubricating inks most of the time--I feel like there's a happy medium between good lubrication and still being able to feel the nib moving across paper fibers.

In my rather limited experience (30 inks give or take), so far Pilot Iroshizuku Yamabudo has stood out in regards of smoothness and flow. Too bad the shade isn't really what I like, so I won't be purchasing a full size bottle.

A fellow FPN member sent me a Platinum Carbon Black cartridge on Monday. I called him a git. Hands down the smoothest ink I now own, and I own a drawer full. My 3776 F nib was always a favourite of mine. Its simply unputdownable now it has the carbon black in it.

 

Will be buying a bottle soon. Stunning ink.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
