Wow, is that color IDENTICAL to Pelikan Olivine? It looks like the exact same thing on my monitor. That way in real life?

Never mind the review of this particular ink . . . where did you get hold of Mont Blanc Racing Green . . .??? :yikes:

Excellent review as ever with really helpful comparisons. :) Thank you

Thank you for the excellent review.

My thoughts:

  • Montblanc issues a plethora of "new" inks annually.
  • In general the colours are ordinary, at best.
  • The prices are outrageously high.
  • The packaging is very appealing, however, it does not enhance a nondescript ink or justify the premium price that is levied.

Intelligence is the ability to hold two opposing ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function.

Thank you for your nice comments!

@eharriett: similar, but not identical. Pelikan is more olive with a few slightly brown hues. Montblanc has a more clean, „cold“ ( = more blue) look. I feel that it is more similar to Diamine Umber.

@tas: from my personal „private reserve“, bought many many years ago.

Cheers

Not my cup of tea ...I mean ink, but that pen is lovely! Thank you for the review.

Very nice review! While I am not really partial to dark green inks, this one looks interesting. I like the shading and the lower saturation. I may just have to pick up a bottle of this.

Somehow I overlooked this review of Montblanc Kipling Jungle ink.

The images are outstanding. They present the ink in a positive light.

Thank you for preparing and posting this review.

Nice review.

I can add my short experience so far with this ink in just one pen: Scribo Feel Verde prato, XF flex.

  • excellent drytime with this wet nib on paper, far above average (I can turn the page immediately, sign one sheet after another); Drytime is far better than Colorverse Redwood forest and Waterman absolute bro
  • slow drying on the nib, no need to recap the pen between short interruptions
  • no smearing
  • nice shading
  • needs 1st class paper (eg Clairefontaine velouté 90gr), otherwise severe bleedthrough
  • a full page of text can be read without fatigue,
  • pleasant to the eye
  • beautyfull match with this pen

An excellent ink for office work as for private writing.

Have a nice day.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
