Fibre Tip Refill J9

Does anyone know if there is any way to utilise a Parker Fibre tip pen which took a refill which Parker designated J9 but of course this refill is no longer available and current ballpen and roller ball refills will not fit. I have tried several and the refill barrel is too large in diameter to enter the section.

I wondered if anyone has found a way of overcoming this problem .

That's a great idea, thanks for the video.

Now I want to see this done with BSB. Has all the hallmarks of an apocalypse.

When I first raised this subject earlier this year I was quite hopeful that the combined experience of all our members around the world would provide an answer.

However it would appear this is not so. Thanks for the suggestion of filling the original refill with different ink, but the point of the enquiry was to replace the original refill with a ballpen refill or a gel pen, or a rollerball, perhaps made by a different company which would sit in the original section and fit in the original barrel.

No fibre pen refills are still available so not possible to find one to put new ink in.

Perhaps I should accept this is a lost cause.

Some pens do get left behind as collectibles, like those pens that used half of a Papermate Piggy-Back refill.

There are a few variations of Parker fiber-tip refills, not sure which is considered the "J9" - several are shown in the picture from this thread:

https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/320383-parker-45-fiber-tip-family-photo/

As shown in the picture, Parker made plastic end-adapters that allowed a Jotter-style refill to be used as a replacement for the largest of the refills, and these can still be found for sale, either by themselves or packaged with the Ad Pen.

The rise of 3-D printing has brought custom refill adapters to the market for a variety of pens, and at least one is advertised as working with one of the later styles of Parker refill:

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
