There are a few inconsistencies that should probably be commented on:

  • Directly from PenBBS, the pen is only $17, with $6 shipping. So it should be a maximum of $23 rather than $30. It has a street price as low as $19 shipped through some eBay resellers. (The sections can crack, too, so buying directly from PenBBS offers some degree of protection.)
  • It isn't available in other finishes. It's their second production pen (after the 322) that uses injection moulding, and they haven't released colours in injection moulded pens, yet. They have had some prototypes from about two years ago in their model 348, though, so it's not impossible in the future.
  • The nib size is 6 rather than 5.

I agree with the rest of the review, however. I commonly find PenBBS nibs dry and need either a lot of time or a little tine spreading to work their best.

I just received one last night and off hand I don't think this is going to work well for me. I really wanted to see what a vac filler was like and it is the first pen I have from PenBBS. I do find it a little dry, although I think it may work well on cheap absorbent papers not normally used with fountain pens. I In a way I liked the vac filling, however I was surprised at the amount of pressure required and I was afraid that I was going to jam the nib into the bottom of the ink bottle when the pressure changes and ink goes into the pen. I am little unclear regarding posting. It did not seem to want to post but than it seemed to securely post if I applied a little pressure and turned the cap at the same time.

Clear review, thank you. I just received mine and inked it with Waterman Green (an old bottle I hadn't used for a very long time). I explored it it before watching your video. Like you I found it dry, but not excessively so and thought that opening the valve increased the flow. I didn't think that it was particularly Fine, about the same as the F on my Pelikan M205.

On posting; I posted it and it fell off, so I tried with just a little extra pressure and a little twist -- not even a quarter turn -- and, just as DanielleE discovered, it posted very securely.

The only issue I've had with the 268 is that the clip has come loose. It's still snug, but orbits around the cap with minimal effort. Can't figure out how to snug it back down. Suggestions?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
