Hello everybody! It's my first time in this subforum, so please alert me if I'm doing something wrong.

I have somehow accumulated over 20 different bottles of ink and 50 samples in the past two years. Love the variety, but some of these bottles don't get much use, and the ink in them just ages on my shelf. That's been bothering me a lot, since they're actually superb inks that just have had the bad luck of ending up in the hands of someone who doesn't appreciate them the way they deserve. So I'd like to send some of these out as big 5ml samples to anyone who's interested, in exchange for the same courtesy. I feel that that way, each of us gets to try new inks, and since everybody would pay postage, it wouldn't cost one more than the other.

Full-sized bottles:

  • De Atramentis Aubergine
  • Diamine Amaranth
  • Diamine Ancient Copper
  • Diamine Autumn Oak
  • Diamine Asa Blue
  • Diamine Bilberry
  • Diamine Classic Green
  • Diamine Earl Grey
  • Diamine Golden Brown
  • Diamine Majestic Blue

Updating some important info that I forgot!

I'm located in Austria but can also ship from Slovakia if it's more practical. Participants are limited to the EU because of postage (except if you want to do a really big exchange that would make sense with a 20€ international shipping fee, I'd think about that). A minimum of 5 samples is required (or its ml equivalent in full bottles, etc.).

I'm looking for samples of the following inks:

  • Akkerman 01 Passage Blauw
  • Akkerman 03 Akkerman Blauw
  • Akkerman 11 Trêves-Turquoise
  • Akkerman 28 Hofkwartier Groen
  • Akkerman Delfts Blauw
  • Akkerman Dutch Masters 07 Rembrandt's Karmozijn
  • Blackstone Colours of Australia Barrier Reef Blue
  • Blackstone Colours of Australia Sydney Harbor Blue
  • Diamine Aurora Borealis
  • Diamine Meadow
  • Diamine November Rain
  • Diamine Pumpkin
  • Diamine Iridescink Maureen
  • Diamine Iridescink Robert
  • Diamine Shimmertastic Citrus Ice
  • Diamine Shimmertastic Pink Champagne
  • J. Herbin Café des Îles
  • J. Herbin Diabolo Menthe
  • Krishna RC Poyka
  • KWZ IG Red #3
  • KWZ IG Turquoise
  • KWZ Azure #3
  • KWZ Azure #4
  • KWZ Azure #5
  • KWZ Cappuccino
  • KWZ Maroon #2
  • Lamy Petrol
  • Noolder's Baystate Blue
  • Organics Studio Masters of Writing Ernest Hemingway Santiago‘s Sea Blue
  • Organics Studio Masters of Writing Henry David Thoreau Walden Pond Blue
  • Organics Studio Elements Nitrogen Royal Blue
  • PenBBS 178 Rose Quartz
  • Pilot Iroshizuku (any)
  • Robert Oster Motor Oil
  • Robert Oster Ng Special 16 sample
  • Robert Oster Shake 'n' Shimmy Black 'n' Blue sample
  • Robert Oster Shake 'n' Shimmy Rose Gilt Tynte sample
  • Robert Oster Shake 'n' Shimmy Schwarze Rose sample
  • Sailor Ink Studio 123
  • Sailor Ink Studio 162
  • Sailor Ink Studio 373
  • Sailor Nano Kiwa-Guro

I'm also looking for (half-)full bottles of these inks:

  • Akkerman (any)
  • Diamine Shimmertastic Arctic Blue
  • Diamine Shimmertastic Golden Ivy
  • J. Herbin 1670 Emeraude de Chivor
  • KWZ (most)
  • Noolder's Blue Ghost
  • Sailor Nano Sou-Boku

Also, of the inks in my own collection, I'd be willing to trade these in full:

  • Diamine Ancient Copper*
  • Diamine Autumn Oak*
  • Diamine Asa Blue - 75%
  • Diamine Earl Grey - 75%
  • Diamine Golden Brown* - 99%
  • J. Herbin Lie de Thé*
  • J. Herbin Poussière de Lune*
  • Noodler's Heart of Darkness - 75%
  • Rohrer & Klingner Alt-Goldgrün - 75%
  • Rohrer & Klingner Helianthus - 99%
  • Rohrer & Klingner Salix - 99%
  • Rohrer & Klingner Sepia - 99%
  • Sailor Jentle/Shikiori Miruai** - 80%
  • Sailor Jentle/Shikiori Oku-Yama** - 70%
  • Sailor Nano Sei-Boku** - 60%

The ink levels are up to date, no samples have been taken yet (I will update them as they go). I wouldn't mind parting with these, but the primary purpose is still the exchange of samples and discovering new colours.
* I have 100ml bottles of Ancient Copper, Autumn Oak, Lie de Thé und Poussière de Lune, from which I'd be filling 30ml into empty Diamine containers. So you do get a regular-size J. Herbin ink, but the bigger bottles have already been used to fill from, etc. (the inks are fine, of course, this is just a disclaimer).
** The Sailors are an exception. I like the round bottles with the filling cones very much, and now that they're not made anymore I wouldn't want to give them away, so I'd fill the ink in them into a different container.

Happy sampling!

Dominique

I also love inks that halo in any color. Some brands I’m interested in Sailor, KWZ, Akkerman, Diamine, Pilot Iroshizuku, and Montblanc. Not interested in Noodler’s

I've got 1 ml left from a Pilot Iroshizuku Ku-Jaku sample. If you think that's enough for you to try it and see what it looks like, I can send it to you (if you want to try the ink with different pens, then it may be too little). If not, I'll use it myself. I'll probably end up buying a full bottle, but not before I've run out of Diamine Eau de Nil (I don't write too much these days, and I've made up my mind not to have at the same time two inks which are relatively similar in colour). Even though postage will cost more than the ink itself, I'm willing to pay it if you think the ink will be useful for you. After all, it's great to see this kind of things within Europe.

(I have nothing else to offer, so this wouldn't be an exchange, just a chance this ink may be spent in the most useful way of the two - either by me, or by you.)

Now that I finally have all the bits in place, I'm in a position to offer you (or anyone else) — not in exchange, and with no "strings" or reciprocal obligation attached — sets of eight or maybe even a dozen different Iroshizuku ink colours as samples, but the idea of 5ml of ink as a sample doesn't make much sense to me, any more than a six-month "free trial" of a streaming media service would.

I could send something along the lines of this ink sample set to Austria for A$3.20 in postage costs, and eight 0.75ml ink samples would make 6ml in total. However, as far as I'm concerned, the idea would be so that you could write between two and four pages (on different types of paper if that's how you want to test for colour and performance) with each included ink, and decide from that whether you're ready to spend money (not with me, but) with retailers to buy full bottles of the ink colours you like if you want to do more with them.

I'll consider putting up a set of Pilot Iroshizuku ink samples as a giveaway, if that's the sort of experimentation and discovery exercise you're after. I have all twenty-four regular Iroshizuku (but none of the 100th anniversary limited edition) ink colours.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

I can also offer sample of:

  • Noodler's: Tchaikovsky

I just want to specify that the Tchaikovsky ink I possess is the older edition, the colour of which is more of a pink-purple shade.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
